Room was clean, spacious and well presented and the bed was very comfortable! The team working and volunteering at the pub went over and above to make sure we felt welcome. Beautiful beer garden with heating. Couldn’t recommend it enough!
Nothing at all!

Its owned by the community and with a vested interest everyone went over and above. I was so impressed I have invested a little and become a shareholder. This is a country stay hidden gem

Loved our stay here whilst walking around the Quantock Hills and visiting the Somerset Museum. There isn't much else around as walking distance restaurants so was very happy eating in the restaurant, which had amazing food and a great atmosphere. There did their upmost to accomadate us as we did not have a dinner booking. We were initially put in the bowling alley dining area which felt a bit like a community centre, but we asked to move and they were more than happy to put us in the main restaurant which is much nicer. The rooms are basic but have everything you need and were very cosy for our October stay.

Good sized room, nice decor and very clean.
It was very disappointing that although the hotel states breakfast is included in the price, all that was provided was a small amount of sliced bread to toast, some yogurts, cereals and a few pieces of fruit. We also had tea & coffee, but there was no cooked breakfast on offer at all, not even scrambled eggs. We paid £100 per room so would certainly expect a more substantial breakfast.
Also my friend & I were the only people in the hotel all night, no staff members at all. Not really sure how safe that is, given it’s in a really quiet area & it meant I had a really poor nights sleep.
Overall disappointing

The room was very comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was good and the staff exceptionally friendly. The pub serves good drinks and we had excellent dinners. The bar is busy but well served and friendly. The cafe was particularly good for lunch.
Very little could be much better. Maybe parking was quite tight but there is always other space in the village.

We stayed on a day the pub was closed so it was super quiet with plenty of parking. Self check-in was easy. We didn't see anyone until the next day at breakfast. Our bedroom was snug and nicely decorated with a comfortable bed but in need of a deep clean. The bathroom was clean. The continental breakfast was good, if a little sparse. We were greeted by a member of staff at breakfast who offered us tea or coffee but didn't check in with us again.
The common stairwell was shabby. Since the pub was open the next day, there could have been better breakfast options and improved hospitality.

Didn’t realise couldn’t get a cooked meal in the evening. Breakfast - cereal and breads.

We did not know before we got to the property that it was a community pub, purchased by the village two years ago.
The property was decorated sympathetically. The property is used for the community which makes it a very special place.
Nothing really once we were advised about WiFi calling.

Lucy and the other staff were all welcoming and so helpful, they went out of their way to make our trip enjoyable.
This is the first time I’ve ever heard of a community owned public house and if this is the result then I think it’s a brilliant idea.
More communities need to do things like this! Well done !!!👍🏻

Well equipped bedroom, the comfiest hotel bed I have ever slept in (there’s been a few)!
The people were so very welcoming. The manager Lucy really is a very special lady, extremely attentive, nothing was too much for her.
We will definitely be staying again, it was fantastic.

This is a great little pub, exceptionally well run and a true joy to stay in. Both Lucy and Serena, the two managers, go over and above in delivering for their guests. We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious. Overall a very, very good experience. Thank you.

Food was delicious, breakfast very nice.
Had a couple of dinners in the evening excellent food.
Maybe a fan in the room in the summer months as it was very hot and stuffy

It’s a very comfortable place and in a beautiful village although a little remote from other places to eat, drink etc
The breakfast was a real disappointment. Part of the joy of a traditional hotel or pub is a proper English breakfast. I would never have chosen the breakfast option if I had known - a few dry croissants and toast or cereals is not good enough.

The hotel, room & food is excellent. The service from all the staff is to be commended. A perfect getaway after a busy, stressful wedding...!
No complaints at all. I'm sure we'll return one day.

This quaint hotel, about 6 miles from Taunton, was in a lovely rural setting, comfortable and quiet. The food was delicious and the overall ambience was delightful. This pub/hotel is owned and managed by the villagers in Halse and, on the evening we stayed, was lively and full of good banter. There are only 5/6 rooms so is ideal for couples looking for a hotel in beautiful surroundings. Definitely stay again as we travel to Cornwall each year and is a convenient half-way location.
Our only observation was that they didn't offer a cooked breakfast although what was offered for breakfast was lovely.

No English breakfast
Food in restaurant, I ordered special which was belly pork. It was very dry and the vegetables and potatoes very poor. It needed gravy and apple sauce. Very poor meal for the price. Poor experience.

The room was big and airy and the bed was comfortable. Bathroom was also good although the ventilation fan was a nuisance running for 30 mins after turning off the bathroom light.
The staff were really excellent!
I would have liked more breakfast options for the price, and some more drawer space would have been useful.
