Town: Ipswich is one of England’s oldest towns, believed to have been created in Anglo-Saxon times and built up more and more around the dock since then. Now, the dock area has undergone a large redevelopment, offering a good selection of restaurants and bars overlooking the marina. As well as a selection of historic buildings around the town, it is also home to the youngest Grade I listed building, a large, glass-built commercial office building in the town centre. Ipswich was awarded the cleanest town award in 2007 and has a number of things to do, including a good selection of shops to browse and brilliant restaurants and bars, not to mention being home to Ipswich Town Football Club! The town offers a central location for exploring the popular county of Suffolk, with its beautiful heritage coastline, historical villages and beautiful waterways; a great place to visit, all year round.
