Funco Du Santos

The Du Santos family is lovely! Monsieur Du Santos was most helpful: found guests to share a taxi transfer from the airport and another for the Pico de Fogo ascent. (I am travelling solo.) He also arranged a guide for the Pico de Fogo ascent and another hike as well as aluguer pick up on my departure morning. His brother is a serious and competent guide. His sisters prepare good, generous meals and keep the facilities very clean. The view couldn't have been better!

The location was great! Bang in the middle, about 800m from the traditional 8k big volcano route. The staff were very friendly.

The food was pretty basic with not many vegetarian options, however the staff were happy to support you with your own food if needed. The bathrooms were very basic which flooded a lot due to the hand held shower room set up, which is fine as it’s kind of like glamping.
