The bedrooms consist of a ground-floor king-size, a double with an en-suite, and a twin serviced by a ground-floor bathroom and first-floor cloakroom. WiFi, fuel, power, bed linen, and towels are included in the rent. Outside, there is a garden with a patio, lawn, furniture, and a private driveway for four cars. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Within 4.2 miles you will find a shop and within 3 miles a pub. Enjoy a splendid retreat at Knockroe Lodge. Please note: property can only accept a minimum of 5 nights stay.

The area offers fine beaches and restaurants, with seafood being a speciality, and a number of activities including angling, canoeing, windsurfing, snorkelling, golf and quad biking, with river cruises also available as well as a 4 mile walkway along an old railway line. Within easy driving distance are the city of Waterford, the shopping capital of South East Ireland and home of the Waterford Crystal factory, and the delightful town of Wexford. This is a difficult review, sorta. The house, the local host (Olive), was fantastic, the hospitality was extremely Irish (aka wonderful), and the location was perfect! The kitchen was very nice and had almost everything we needed for daily cooking, the yard was very nice and full of several different kinds of plants and trees, and the privacy was great. We, overall, had a fantastic stay at Knockroe Lodge!Here's where the reduction of 1 star needs to come into play: the management company (Sykes Cottages out of the UK). Communication with them, if you're able to get them to answer, is bar none the absolute worst I've ever had to deal with. I had a question regarding the house and was told that they weren't going to contact the local host and should just plan things on our own and deal with any questions once we arrived. Wait, what? Then, once we were in Ireland and wanted to contact them for the check-in process (this was never sent to us), we were greeted with "leave a message" on 1 of the phone numbers provided, and "this mailbox is full" on the other. I reached out to VRBO directly and they were also unable to contact the management company. It was almost to the point that we figured we had been scammed somehow. Thankfully, I was given Olive's number so I could get the check-in information.This is a hard review for me as I cannot recommend staying here enough...it is fantastic! But Sykes Cottages? 0 out of 10 stars.
