The host gave us a WiFi that doesn't really work, we contacted the host with our concern, the host replied a couple of days later giving us a WiFi that actually works! Not sure why he intentionally or unintentionally gave us a WiFi that doesn't work to begin with! Major identity theft concern as follows: The host demanded a lot of personal information that usually someone with ill intentions asks for, one of which is you must upload an actual photo of your credit card!!! I've been in the short term rental business for over 30 years myself and never ever have I asked or even wanted the responsibility of having and holding a copy of anyone's credit card information, guests pay online with their credit card, which we did with this reservation, but the host demanded a copy of the credit card itself along with all kinds of personal details or will not provide the check in information. We authorized the payment for our stay with our bank, but had to go through the trouble of cancelling this particular credit card after this payment went through for the obvious security reason. I'm not accusing the host of having ill intentions, he could be new in this business and clueless of what responsibility he is taking on himself and exposing himself to big problems! I don't know what all the personal information and an actual copy of the credit card was for or how he'll be using the information. We are members of several online identity theft protection sites and we have reported this to be on the watch list for any suspicious activities along with reporting to our bank for any fraudulent charges on the credit card that we had to cancel. Never ever have any hotel or short term rental anywhere in the world have ever requested a copy of the credit card itself. This was definitely the first time to encounter such thing!
