On the positive side, the apartment was clean and the bed was comfortable.

We were disappointed with this apartment because it had a good rating and we expected it to be good. The biggest problem was the windows. The shutters are in a bad condition and cannot be opened (see photo), so the main room is dark all the time. In the bedroom, the owner has nailed vinyl sheet to the inside of the shutters to exclude the light (see photo), when he should have installed blackout curtains or blinds, so the bedroom is pitch black permanently. Other apartments in this building have installed nice new shutters and this apartment needs them too (see photo of the exterior of the building). The kitchen is poorly set up, but you can work with it.  Around the apartment, all the power outlets are the Italian Type L, except the one and only power outlet near the kitchen counter which is a European Type F. If your adapters and plugs are the European Type F (which are the most common) you will have difficulty charging your phone, tablet, etc. It would be helpful for international travelers if the owner could install a couple of Type F outlets replacing a couple of the Type L. The location is at the south end of the waterfront area, so you have about a 1km walk to the main part of the town.  This apartment is one of at least two under this listing, so make sure you know which one you're booking.
