The House of Ocean

The view, the kitchen, the comfort, the amenities… but mostly the thoughtfulness and generosity of the hosts. When we asked about calling a taxi because we didn’t have a car, they not only gave us a ride to the supermarket, but waited for us to shop, offered to take us to the train station for our trip to Nachi falls, and even took us to the train station when we checked out and arrived with gift bag in hand for our 6 year old. They were so so so sweet and generous and that house is just amazing. It’s exactly as pictured.

There’s nothing I didn’t like but a useful tip for upcoming bookers without a car would be to take the train to Kii-katsuura station instead of Nachi station- where google takes you. we realized later that there are taxis lined up there. If I did it over again, I would get food from the markets there and the taxi right to the house. From Nachi station, although it was closer, the taxi apps kept telling us there were no taxis available and there were none at the station any of the times we were there. We took the bus, which was fine, but I don’t think they run all day and although the bus leaves you right on the corner of the street that leads to the house, it’s an uphill walk. And if you walk from Nachi station instead of taking a bus, you’re definitely walking on a busy street with not much of a place to walk. So all those problems are solved, if you get a taxi from Kii-katsuura station instead of obeying Google maps!

Stijlvol en met design ingerichte vakantiehuis. Het huis is ruim, comfortabel, bijzonder licht en biedt een prachtig uitzicht over de baai en zee. De woon-leefkeuken heeft een moderne, volledig uitgeruste Gaggenau keuken. Omdat we op doorreis waren, verbleven we er helaas maar 1 nacht, maar ik had hier heel graag langer gebleven! Je huurt het gehele huis. Het heeft drie comfortabele slaapkamers: 1 slaapkamer met twee aparte bedden, 1 slaapkamer met een voor ons iets smal tweepersoonsbed, 1 slaapkamer met drie eenpersoonsbedden. Alle kamers hebben airco en plafondfans. Er zitten horren voor de schuifdeuren. Er is ook gedacht aan echt alle kleine details zoals zeep, koffie, thee, shampoos etc etc, wat fijn is als je op reis bent. Winkels en restaurants zijn dichtbij (Konbini Lawson binnen 10 minuten, op 10 minuten een groot winkelcentrum). Wifi. Het huis zelf heeft een grote parkeerplaats. Mooi en groot zandstrand met parkeerplaats dichtbij. De Nachi waterval met het bekende tempel uitzicht is binnen 15 minuten aan te rijden. De beheerders waren enorm vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

This is a beautiful house, with the most amazing views. The house is huge, designed around the ocean view. You can see the sunrise from the deck. The fitout of the house is very thoughtful and well designed, luxurious. We booked this as a treat for after doing Kumono Kodo- it was perfect for relaxing. I didn’t want to leave!
