About this cottage rental
Our home is a classic beach house located just a short walk (3 blocks, 7 minutes) to the beach and boardwalk (also near the trolley stop). Oakwood Street is a wide, open, and private street. Our lot is large, with open parking (4+ vehicles; grass is ok). Guests enjoy the expansive front screened porch, with plenty of seating, and a large backyard deck. They tell us it feels like a home away from home.
There are five bedrooms:
- Guestroom 1 - Master bedroom - king bed, sitting area/desk, and bathroom
- Guestroom 2 - king bed
- Guestroom 3 - king bed
- Guestroom 4 - bunk bed (queen mattress on bottom, twin on top)
- Guestroom 5 - twin bed and a bunk bed (full mattress on bottom, twin on top)
Note:
The current bedroom images show a queen in one guest room, but that has been upgraded to a king.
The full bunk bed in the photos was moved into the room with the twins and replaced with a bunk bed with a queen on the bottom and a twin on top.
The images also show a room with two twins, but one of the twins was replaced with a bunk bed with a full mattress on the bottom and a twin on top (the bunk bed seen in the photos).
Our house is ideal for a family summer beach vacation or a non-summer getaway. (There are tons of things to do in the "off-season" - e.g., shopping nearby with free parking, restaurants with no wait times, great road cycling right out the front door, etc.).
Our home is conveniently located near the beach and town, yet it still maintains a private and uncrowded atmosphere, making for a wonderfully relaxing vacation.
The home was originally owned by the former mayor of Bethany, who designed and built it in the 1980s. The previous owners remodeled and expanded the home in 2019. Today, it is known as "the cedar house."
The minimum rental age is 27. This is a family home in a family beach town. Please, no senior week requests.
The primary renter must provide full names and ages of occupants within 12 hours of the booking request. Failure to do so may result in the request being denied.
Sheets and towels are not provided, and pets are not allowed.

We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful home. It was spacious and perfectly suited for a large group. We loved the location in Bethany as it is close to everything and yet in a nice quiet neighborhood. The beach, ‘boardwalk’, and library are walkable destinations. Our weather was not great but we found ourselves enjoying the screened in porch as well as the comfy family room. We also hired a chef to cook for us in the well stocked, spacious, beautiful kitchen. The only issue we had is that we had just one working key. Luckily the lock box made it possible for everyone to have access to the key.

Perfect large house for a multigenerational family vacation. Spacious, clean, convenient! Beautiful large front porch was especially nice on a rainy day! Everyone loved the house as it contributed to a very fun and positive first time vacation to/in Bethany Beach. Thanks!

Oakwood home did not disappoint. Spacious bedrooms, large family room with plenty of room to lounge and play games. Porch was an added bonus where we spent our mornings and dinners in the evening. Would rent again and highly recommend.
