This was one of the most impressive accommodations of our Japan trip. The entire house has been beautifully renovated and feels brand new while still preserving a traditional Japanese atmosphere. The smell of fresh wood throughout the house was wonderful and made it feel especially warm and welcoming. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped and has everything needed for a longer stay. The house offers plenty of space, with a large bedroom featuring three very comfortable double beds, a traditional tatami room with futons upstairs, another bedroom with two double beds downstairs, and a stunning living room with large sofas and a big TV. The bathrooms are modern, spotless, and exactly what you would hope for in a high-quality Japanese home. The location is also excellent. Nikko Station, restaurants, convenience stores, and the main sights are all easily accessible, and there is a private parking space just behind the house.

Our only real complaint was the lack of proper blackout curtains or shutters. All bedrooms become very bright early in the morning, especially during summer when the sun rises before 5 a.m. The existing blinds provide privacy but do little to block the light. As we were travelling with a young child, this resulted in very early wake-ups and noticeably less sleep. For international guests who are used to darker bedrooms, better blackout options would make a significant difference.

Beautiful property. Everything was new upon our arrival. No fuss to collect keys and we were able to drop our bags a bit earlier. Well equipped kitchen.

Not able to leave bags after check out time.
