Casa do Fontão is located in Amarante, a picturesque town in northern Portugal, known for its natural beauty, historical heritage and connection to the Tâmega River. Our house is surrounded by natural landscapes, vineyards and forested areas, near the Tâmega River. Our house has typical Portuguese architecture with granite facades and red tile roofs. It is 2.4 km from the historic center, where the São Gonçalo Bridge, the São Gonçalo Monastery and several churches and museums stand out, including that of the painter Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso. The area is famous for its convent sweets, such as "papos de anjo" and "brisas do Tâmega", and for its proximity to the Vinho Verde wine region. In addition to walks along the river, there are hiking trails such as the watermill trail, the chestnut tree trail, and the ford trail. It is 3 km from the Tâmega line cycle path, connecting to Celorico and Mondim for the famous climb to Senhora da Graça for the more adventurous!
