Aurora welcome newly built riverside cottage

First things first, its exactly like on the pictures, no doubt about that: a new cottage with giant windows in the middle of nowhere. Moreover, it looks like the owner does/did a lot of camping, so the house is just full of stuff for anyone who wants to use this cottage as an operational base for their forest hikes. The main room / kitchen is cozy, with a lot of options to set up the light to maximize the vibe of being kinda in the forest, but at the same time in a house. The kitchen itself has everything you can need. As for the rest of the room, the fireplace is a nice thing, but its clear that it is more a decoration thing, rather then a source of heat. Yes, it heats up a little bit, and if you run it long enough, you can even slow cook some stuff in a special section in it, but that will end quickly if the weather outside if -30, like it was during my stay, so I would not hope that much for that. The shower is clearly made for the sauna in a meter from it. I'm not a fan of sauna (i can already hear the screams), but even I could enjoy it. There is also a door that leads outside, so that you can, in theory, enjoy beer on a fresh air, but I didn't. Again, minus 30 degrees. But you can try, the door is there. The bedroom is nice, with a heated floor and a wardrobe half-full of useful stuff. Another good touch is a monitor on a small table, that you can connect your laptop to, a very nice addition. As for the "guest room", well.. its more cramped in real life compared to the pictures. Lower bed is ok, while the top one has less space then the similar ones in trains. But on a plus side, the guys living in there have their own fridge! Can have a beer without lifting from the bed, what could be better? Finally, the elephant in the room, the giant windows did not work for me most of the time. And its not their fault, its just that I came in there on a new year eve, and it was dark most of the time, could not see a thing.

Its not per se that I did not like that, just a few things you need to be wary of. As I said, its in the middle of nowhere. Its a pain to get to, as the road from Inari is OK at best when riding in daylight and horrible at night. It feels as if it was built a half a century ago, and sharp turns with constant height changes reduce visibility greatly. In winter the snow coming from under the wheels of other cars makes it worse. Another thing is that apparently a deer family lives in a 15km radius around the cottage, and they like to do cardio twice a day, walking around the roads. Considering the visibility issues, these activities of theirs can become a surprise. In short, be careful on your way to the cottage.
