Very spacious house, spotlessly clean and very friendly hosts who live next door

It is well out of town, so need a car to go anywhere

We stayed for five nights in January 2026. The location is nice and quiet, and close to the stupas to visit. The common areas of the house are very spacious for a three-bedroom place. The property was clean, and the rooms are very nicely set up. The hosts are really warm and kind. The breakfast was a real highlight, with excellent Sri Lankan food. We opted to rent the entire place and had the house to ourselves. The hosts live next door. They started this accommodation less than a year ago after their daughter’s family moved elsewhere. Overall, this place offers great value, especially for families who wish to stay together.

There are a few things to be aware of. There is no hot water in the showers. The washing machine shown in the pictures does not work. The provided Wi-Fi may be slow or unreliable in the evenings, as this area’s Dialog 4G network can become congested (mobile 5G works better). That said, for the price, this is still a very good rental.

The host was fabulous, friendly and very accommodating. Food was really good. The place is spacious, clean, has all the facilities for a travelling family or a group of friends. Quiet and calm surroundings.

Availability of Wifi, extra sheets and mosquito nets can improve the place.
