This was the first time we encountered an unprofessional receptionist. We traveled for almost an hour due to heavy traffic on EDSA, even though the trip would normally take only around 20 minutes. Upon arrival, she asked for a security deposit of ₱1,500, and we handed her ₱2,000. She then instructed us, in a bossy tone, to have the money exchanged at a nearby store. We doubted that we would be able to get change for the ₱2,000 bill because the store across the street was only a small store. We explained that the establishment should have sufficient change available. She asked another staff to have our money changed but they were also unable to provide smaller bills because it was not available in nearby stores. She asked if we were willing to leave the full ₱2,000 as the deposit, but we declined because we did not have enough cash with us. We also asked if it would be acceptable to leave ₱1,250 temporarily for the security deposit, but she refused.
After this exchange, she repeatedly slammed her phone, the logbook, and the cabinet, which we found inappropriate and unprofessional. When we confronted her about her behavior, she denied doing so. After the confrontation, she eventually handed us the ₱500 change.
On a positive note, we would like to commend the staff who were present that day. The kuyas (who helped us open the locked door in comfort room when we did not have the keys) were friendly, accommodating, and very helpful. Their professionalism and positive attitude stood in contrast to the receptionist’s behavior.
