Bright & Spacious Apartment with large balcony and free parking

This apartment is as described and comfortable. Quiet area and we had two peaceful nights. Good parking and easy to find.

Getting into the city was ok- a short walk and bus ride or fairly cheap Uber.

Was very clean, good value for money and just looked very aesthetically pleasing

My partner got cold at one point but we were told prior to not make any adjustments to the thermostat. Wasn’t really a big deal to be honest otherwise we would have contacted the host

We chose this apartment because it was advertised as having excellent cleanliness, which was very important to us. On arrival, the living-room carpet was covered in dog hair and clearly had not been hoovered, and both the cutlery and the cutlery drawer were dirty. The rest of the apartment was clean, but this did not match the cleanliness rating. We decided not to complain during our short stay because we did not want to be difficult and felt we could manage, even though we were disappointed. Due to this, we also didn't think we need pictures, so none taken, this mistake did cost us later. When we first used the bathroom, we noticed the soap dispenser was already cracked and appeared to have been glued. We used it carefully all weekend without any incident. The day after we left, we were charged £20 and accused of breaking the soap dispenser. The photo provided by the cleaner shows it exactly as it looked when we arrived. When we explained this to the owner and suggested it may have already been damaged or possibly broken during cleaning, we were told the charge had already been taken and nothing could be done, as he trusts the cleaner. When we then mentioned the cleaning issues, we were told that because we had not raised them during the stay, they were not taken seriously, which made us feel as though we were being treated as if we were not telling the truth. Overall, this felt frustrating and unfair. Cleanliness was a key reason for choosing this property, and being charged for an item that was already damaged, without any proper investigation, left us feeling that responsibility was simply placed on us by default. For anyone considering renting this property, we would strongly advise reporting and documenting any small issue you notice immediately on arrival, as our experience suggests that otherwise you may be held responsible later, with no opportunity for further investigation or appeal.
