Maison Gally was absolutely perfect for us. We were a group of six adults made up of couples and solo travellers, and the house worked brilliantly. The rooms, bathrooms and showers were spotless, comfortable and beautifully maintained, but what really makes this place special is its character. Everywhere you look there are books, artwork, ornaments, rugs and fascinating little details that make the house feel like a genuine home rather than simply somewhere to stay. Zerek is a wonderful host and a fascinating character. Having travelled extensively and worked as a diplomat, he has plenty of stories to tell and is equally happy to chat with guests or leave you to enjoy the house at your own pace. Fresh coffee and pastries in the morning were a lovely touch. The property is hugely undersold on its website and offers a far more unique experience than the photographs suggest. I would happily stay here again and for much longer next time.

Nothing of any significance. This is a historic guest house in the heart of Carcassonne rather than a modern hotel, so visitors should arrive with the right expectations. There is limited parking nearby, no lift, and access involves stairs, so it may not be ideal for guests with mobility issues. For us, however, those features were all part of the charm and character of the property.
