I think this is a scam. They make you pay up front and then cancel on day. They won’t cancel it and so you lose half the money: I had to have 3 long calls with booking to sort it out- I nearly gave up

All the furniture is new. A fresh cosmetic renovation has been completed.

From the moment we made the reservation, unusual things began to happen. The website clearly states that reservation fees are non-refundable, but right after booking the owner messaged us saying we needed to pay an additional £300 deposit, which he would supposedly return the next day. This information was not mentioned anywhere in the listing, and we were not prepared for it. As a result, we felt trapped: we couldn’t cancel the reservation without losing the booking fee, and we were asked to pay an extra £300. After a long exchange with the owner, I explained that I was travelling with children, and only then did he cancel this requirement. Regarding the apartment itself, I must say that the furniture is new and the cosmetic renovation is fresh. However, the building appears to have originally been some kind of industrial facility that was later converted into apartments. The area felt rather unsettling — suspicious people wandering around with nothing to do, staring strangely, and a damaged entrance with metal bars on the main door does not give the impression of a safe place. The walls between neighbouring units are extremely thin, almost like paper; you can hear every sound and rustle. The children slept in a separate bedroom with two single beds, but the worst part is that the gas heating boiler is installed in that room, hidden in the wall behind a door. I consider this unsafe in a living space. The heating system did not work at all, and the entire night was extremely cold. It was too late to contact the owner, as we stayed only for one night to rest during our trip. I would also suggest adding some tea bags or coffee in the kitchen. There is a kettle, but nothing to make in the morning. Overall, despite the temperature being only +16°C, we managed to get through the night.
