Practical location, good vibe, comfortable bed with curtain, good showers, large common area and fully equipped kitchen, friendly staff and cute hostel kitten.

The volunteers and the manager were super friendly, the location is amazing and they have a really nice kitchen and common room/bar

The shower head needed to be held in the hands, further more nothing to dislike

Solid hostel with a very good location, just a few minutes walk from the train station. Lively kitchen and common area with a helpful young crew who mixed well with the guests - for example, when the WIFI was down, they hot-spotted the World Cup games with their own phones for those that wanted to watch...

Organisation was a little ramshackle at times, but that's not a criticism, more how a freewheeling hostel should be. A few tips - there's a decent bar and cafe in the train station for snacks and a service station across from the hostel where you can pick up beers and some bits and pieces. About a kilometre up the hill, the Pension Strba has a basic 'potroviny' (supermarket) under the steps of the entrance and also a good bar/restaurant upstairs (hours vary but kitchen closes at 9pm). Lastly, if you buy your rack railway/elektrichka ticket on the train (card or whatever, no cash accepted) the 6 euro ticket lasts for 24 hours as opposed to the point-to-point tickets in the station. I bought mine late after a day's hiking and it got me up and down to Strbse Pleso the next day and then all the way to Poprad for my next stopover - great value...
