Rhino Plains

The intimacy of the venue, limited rooms so a personalized service. The food is good compared to other lodged. We had duck breast, beef fillet and lamb racks for dinners. The waterhole infront of the venue does wonders, we even had a leopard come for a drink right infront of us. The rooms and bathrooms are very nice and modern. Great facilities and snacks everywhere. The wine selection is top notch. Babylonstoren, Vrede en Lust, Groot Constantia, Rupert and Rothchild to name a few. Welgevonden is ideal if you want to see Rhino.

The Welgevonden reserve as a whole as limited carnivores. We saw a male lion on our 6 and last drive for the first time. We did see a cheetah on our first one from a far. Elephants and buffalo are a little scarce.

Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Zeit im Rhino Plains. Das Essen war sehr gut, das Personal sehr freundlich und sehr bemüht, wir haben uns rundherum wohlgefühlt. Die Game Drives waren super, Tiere und Fauna wurde fundiert erklärt und wir konnten auch am Wasserloch täglich viele Tiere bestaunen.

Het warme ontvangst, de prachtige mainlodge met het geweldige uitzicht op de waterhole, hele mooie kamers, alles is heel schoon, het heerlijke eten en de geweldige gamedrives. Wij hebben volop genoten!!!

Solly the tour guide and the entire staff were really amazing. Solly was very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions we had. The rest of the staff were also very friendly and accommodating. Constantly checking if we have everything we need. Seeing the animals in the wild was also quite the experience and I’d recommend doing it at least once.

Carol the owner is extremely rude. She was rude over text and then wasn’t very accommodating once we got there. Our driver also said he had a terrible experience with her where she was rude to him in the past as well. Because of her lack of professionalism and accommodations I would not recommended this place. You also have to drive 10 miles down this very bumpy and dangerous road to actually get to the west gate to get to the reserve, which was scary and just not worth it. Find another reserve with a better owner and an entrance at the main gate. The shower also didn’t drain well so when you shower you have to water up to your ankles. Our lock to our cabin was also broken, and even though we were the only guests that day somehow we still got that cabin.
