The bunk beds were really squeaky, interrupts sleeping. Limited amenities, also hard to set up projector for tv. Very limited space in the bathroom to put toiletries Also, there was only 1 main switch for all the lights. No bed side lights. We are either all sitting in the dark when some of us wants to sleep, or all spots were on. Location is further from the station than we expected

Great Location: about a 10-15 minute walk from the Subway station (G & H Lines) and a quick 5-10 walk from the Ueno JR station (Iriya Exit). From these stations there are at least 3 Konbinis along the way before getting to the room and a Lawsons only a block away. Amenities: while the room is more of a rental unit and not a hotel, the room had everything our family of 5 needed most for a 6 night stay: washer & dryer, a full fridge, a large table, and a well stocked kitchenette. Room 410 also had a 2nd toilet, which was super convenient. We also used the drying rack for our towels. They also provided plenty of laundry detergent. Room: large, clean & comfortable. bunk beds were clean and comfy. cleaning supplies were available. I appreciated that each bed had a pair of outlets, even the top bunks. Communication: the staff communication was on point, sending us important information in a timely manner. there was an issue with the Booking.com's Message Center during our stay, so they texted me directly. Reading the Room Manual is very important, which they sent to us beforehand.

We loved our stay, but we think these small things could make it the Room 410 even better: -Lighting. the existing track lighting is sufficient, but there is only 1 switch that turns on/off all the ceiling track lights. I think adding a floor lamp or a table lamp would be a easy addition so early sleepers can sleep with the ceiling lights off and the additional lamp can provide lighting for the late sleepers. Additional lighting above the bathroom sink would make it better too. -Towel racks/hooks. There are no towel hooks. While there is a plug-in towel warmer rack, but we decided to use the stand alone clothes rack to dry our towels.

We stayed at Koala Inn Ueno as a family and found it to be a good option for larger groups. The biggest advantage was the space. Having six beds made it comfortable for everyone, which is hard to find in Tokyo. We also appreciated having a washer and dryer in the apartment, along with a large dining table, full-size refrigerator/freezer, and microwave. The host was very accommodating and kindly allowed us to leave our luggage for two extra hours after checkout, which made our travel day much easier.

There were a few drawbacks to be aware of. There is no housekeeping during your stay, and the bathroom has a shower only (no bathtub). The apartment could also use better lighting, there are no bedside lamps or night lights, and one light switch controls the entire sleeping area, making it difficult if someone wants to sleep while others are awake. Bathroom counter space is very limited, and we missed having a full-length mirror. Storage was another challenge. While there is a clothing rack with about 16 hangers, there are no dressers or drawers to unpack your clothes. There is also no TV. A projector is provided, but it only supports streaming services, so you’ll need your own streaming accounts if you want to watch something. One recommendation for future guests is to carefully review the amenities list before booking to make sure the apartment has everything you need for your stay. The listing is accurate, but some amenities that many travelers may expect in a hotel or vacation rental are not included.
