Looking for peace and mountains? This is your ideal place. Two tourist apartments are available for rent in the village of Casaio, in the province of Ourense. Enjoy hiking trails, visit Peña Trevinca (the highest mountain in Galicia), El Teixadal (one of Europe’s largest and most important yew forests), or the old Valborraz mine, used during World War II for wolframite extraction. You can also see the Pala De Cabras Cave Paintings, frequented 7,000 years ago and dating to the Early Neolithic. The village is quiet and offers a free pool open only in summer, a playground, and a canteen with homemade food and a friendly atmosphere. You can also visit O Barco de Valdeorras, about 24 km away, and Las Médulas, a former Roman gold mine about 35 km away.
