John gave us a warm and kind welcome when we checked in. We had a lovely chat and he gave us some helpful information. It’s lovely to know that his family roots started right at the homestay and in the area. The room we stayed in was super spacious and comfortable and the bathroom facilities were great. We also had access to a shared kitchen space which had a microwave and fridge to use that was handy. We were lucky to travel here by car and it had plenty of spaces for parking.

Comfy bed. Location is convenient for driving to Carraountoohil and Kate Kearney’s cottage and also a nearby petrol station only if you own a car.
John was such a great host and can do anything to help you with solving the problems.
No breakfast supplies; you have to bring your own breakfast foods as a part of self-catering but the kitchen is nice though and of course there is a small fridge and cutlery.

Nice location for the view and the quiet, but it was far to any shops or restaurants to buy things for basic survival unless you drive!
Very far to get basic things like food and drink. All closest food delivery were 7km away and they all refused to deliver that far! When explaining to the host that we hadn't eaten all day and there was no way to get a delivery or anywhere near by, not even any buses to go closer to food locations, he seemed stumped. I feel in that situation it would be a basic human trait to offer something , even bread or a banana, or to offer a lift to a takeaway, but instead we went to bed on an empty stomach!
