17 Domus Mariae Town House

We tend to book quirky houses with plenty of bedrooms, and this one certainly lived up to our expectations! Attached to a beautiful, enormous church, the property had a lovely ensuite twin room on the ground floor, with a single room, double room, kitchen and bathroom on the next floor. There was also a rooftop terrace. The location is wonderful, set in one of the Three Cities just across the water from Valletta, in a peaceful neighbourhood. There are plenty of lovely walks, with restaurants and the marina just a few minutes away. It’s also really easy to explore the other cities and Valletta by ferry or one of the little boats, with the crossing taking around 10 minutes. Valletta and the Three Cities are absolutely beautiful and, without doubt, among the most stunning places we’ve ever visited. The architecture is incredible, and there are breathtaking views around every corner. Finally, Harold, our contact, was brilliant — incredibly helpful, supportive and full of useful information. We had a wonderful stay and would happily recommend this property to anyone looking for somewhere a little different in a fantastic location!

Well, nowhere is perfect, and the locals tend to get up very early so there was quite a bit of noise from about 6am onwards with the church bells often chiming at 6:45am but then most cities can be noisy and echoey.

Comfortable bedrooms and good air conditioning

Small cups, broken sun umbrella, very noisy surroundings with horns beeping, the bells ringing at 6am every day in the church next door and at other times in the morning and fireworks going off int he morning. I understand that there was a special feast day coming up but the owner could have warned us about this and being able to sleep so little was not ideal.
