Affordable location close to UBC, shared housing style so you will hear your neighbours.

Nice, quiet location. Met our needs to be close to UBC for one night.

An extra chair would have been nice. Old home charm comes with little electric plugs, lights. Screens on the windows would have been appreciated-mosquitoes were out and it was warm out, we couldn’t leave windows open.

Maybe stay in the house, but don’t stay in the Cedar room above the garage. Not worth half of what they charged!

The beds were clean and neat, hot water was good and the location worked really well for us.

Way too little effort has been made to stay in the room about the garage! It has a kitchen, with absolutely nothing stocked, no silverware, glasses or plates etc. the shower curtain doesn’t even close all the way they have designed it and it’s terrible. The wall paint was peeling everywhere and wallpaper patches were used in random spots. Even the light fixtures were like kids bedroom stuff from Goodwill.

Alot of potential but needs some love

Awesome location, our room was quite large and comfortable. The house has lots of character. Hosts were friendly.

The property gardens have heaps of potential for cool outdoor spaces but it's all completely overgrown and uncared for. There was what appeared to be a lot of mould on the ceiling of the bathroom. We didn't get given a code for the front door so were locked out for quite awhile with a baby one night The kitchen was lacking basics like a toaster,coffee maker and even bowls and spoons etc so we were unable to make ourselves breakfast as planned. The property has alot of potential amd is in a nice location but just needs a bit of love/effort to make it worth the significant amount we paid per night for it

Smelly old unmaintained house, no sound proofing, mildew, won't return.

The view and the location were great

I will never get the smell of the kitchen out of my nostrils. This house has fallen into disrepair and the owner is not up front with pictures nor putting any effort into maintaining the house with respect. There are no pictures of the awful 100 year old kitchen and now I understand why. The faucet in the tub/shower is broken, there's mildew all over the bathroom ceiling, one ugly piece of art in the room, windows painted shut so not enough air flow, we were so hot with the two small windows open and a thick duvet, there are no sheets on the bed, no utensils in the kitchen, limited dishes, haunted dining room, exterior could be amazing but it has been left/overgrown.. etc. For the price, it's not worth travelling to Vancouver anymore - If I do have to come to the city again, I will only trust hotels from now on. I think wealthy people should be fined for letting heritage houses decline to such a degree. It's irresponsible, unsustainable, and I will never support this kind of thing again. On top of all this I didn't get the room I had booked and no one responded to my ticket about this. The room we ended up with was much worse than the one I had seen in the pictures and $200 more.

Did the job beautiful area.

The location was lovely and a short walk to the beach. Funky old house with lots of character.

The kitchen was not very well equipped, with cutlery which made it difficult to prepare and eat our food.

Nice location to access the beach and be in a more suburban area.

Imagine a big old house which has been neglected and abandoned for months, which is then bought and converted as quickly and cheaply into a booking.com stay, with as many rooms as possible. This is what this is. There had been minimal effort to update and clean the property. There was a build up of dead bugs in the windows, and cobwebs everywhere. Worst of all was the kitchen, which we were promised was fully functional. It was quite disgusting and not up to the standard that you would expect for what you are paying. As there is no cooling and no flyscreen on any windows, the house was perpetually fully of enormous mosquitoes and other bugs, including the kitchen. Holes in the roof, damaged flooring, and a minimally stocked kitchen. We were able to find one rusty fork and no regular spoons, so instead ate using plastic childrens cutlery. There are approx 8 bedrooms in the main house, and another small self contained unit above the garage. There are 2 bathrooms, one which is only a toilet and sink. As many of the rooms have multiple beds, this meant that we were sharing one shower with approx 20 other people. There was often a long wait time. Additionally, there was a buildup of old hair and soap in the shower. Not pleasant. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with budget accomodation, and an uncomfortable stay. However in this instance we weren't paying for budget accomodation, and expected something a little bit cleaner/ nicer than what we experienced.

Comfortable character home in an excellent location.

This heritage house was full of character and a wonderful surprise. The property was gorgeous, and safe, and it was an extra bonus to have very comfortable beds. It was also a very quiet neighbourhood, and close to the Spanish Beach. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay!

The windows didn’t have mosquito nets, and it would have been so nice to sleep with the.windows open. The house also has hardwood floors throughout, so noise really bounces when other guests are in the common areas (not ideal if you’re trying to sleep a bit earlier)

Oud huis met charme

De locatie/uitzicht op zee/buurt/wijk. Statig gebouw, waarbij de oudere elementen nog aanwezig zijn. De kamer zelf was voldoende ruim. 's Nachts heerlijk rustig! Overdag kun je bouwvakkers horen timmeren aangezien in de buurt men huizen aan het renoveren is, maar dan ben je regulier op pad en heb je d'r geen hinder van. Las eerdere reviews dat men klaagde over het ontbreken van eigen badkamer, maar je kunt ook kamers boeken met eigen badkamer! Zelf geen gebruik gemaakt van de keuken/wasmachine maar was wel beschikbaar. Werd tijdens verblijf benaderd per telefoon(maar blijkbaar gemist) en vervolgens per mail dat men 's middags op de badkamer diende te zijn voor herstelwerkzaamheden, hetgeen ik wel waardeerde door dat vooraf te horen.

Je kunt wel zien dat e.e.a. oud is, wat ook zijn charme heeft. Weliswaar heeft men de verfkwast gebruikt maar dat is soms met 'n Franse slag verricht. Raamkozijn was vervangen door plank(met behang aan binnenzijde) Trof schimmel aan in de badkamer, hetgeen wellicht duidt op onvoldoende ventileren(door eerdere hotelgasten of vochtproblemen in huis) De antieke kozijnen/ramen zijn ondanks de aanwezige waarschuwingen pijnlijk kan ik uit ervaring delen! Had zelf beter dienen op te letten. Gelukkig niets gebroken, maar had wel enkele dagen een pijnlijke pink! Communicatie met beheerder alleen via mail. Was aangenamer geweest om ff verbaal contact te hebben, zodat je beter weet waar je terecht kunt bij problemen. De tuin is zeer verwaarloosd. Verwacht dat het weken kost om het in orde te brengen en dagelijks uren kost om te onderhouden. De tuin is zeer groot. Wellicht 50m bij 80m of zelfs meer.
