The Old Church Isle of Bute

The property was visually stunning and so unique. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The amenities in the property were fantastic and the location was perfect - directly opposite the beach and a short walk to Rothesay town centre.

Nothing.

Really well renovated it’s in a great location 5-10 minute walk to the ferry, pool table is a bonus, the kitchen is really well fitted out, the place is an attraction in itself with tons of cool curiosities

The main bedroom is open plan to the rest of the church at the mezzanine level , the toilets were en-suite only downstairs and through the open plan master bedroom upstairs so either way if someone staying in bedroom 3&4 and needs to go in the middle of the night someone in the other bedrooms is getting woken up, heating took some working out but we had it sussed by the third night kind of, next time I’ll be buying logs

Amazing quirky old place, well presented with all you need. Plenty of seating and hidey places for the kids, love all the random animals and orniments. Once the place heats up you will be sliding along the floors, drink in hand with a smile on your face. Mother in laws 60th went well, we took the upstairs so we couldnt hear the snoring and we left the older folk downstairs. My miniature sausage dog must have covered around 2 miles within the property so he slept well. Grab some wood and a big 20kg bag of coal and you will love it. Parking outside and across the road, gate out in the garden so its safe for kids and dogs.

The place was great but the drivers on the Island drive faster than city folk, I am into my cars, noise and speed but they need to calm down.

The place overall is amazing. Great size and location. Really dramatic interior and sensational views. Bed are comfy. Cleanliness in general was good

There are a few things 1. Check-in at 4pm and check-out at 10am just isn't good enough. At the very minimum, it should be 3pm and 11am. It's such a rush in the morning when you're leaving. Just really suits the owner and not the guest. 2. The toilet situation isn't great. There are only 2 bathrooms for 4 bedrooms, and one is en-suite downstairs. So the other downstairs bedroom has to use the bathroom upstairs (big stairs!) and you have to walk past the four poster bed which is open plan. This could be solved with a simple WC downstairs 3. This brings up another issue - the big four poster bed and single bed is open plan on the balcony above the main space. This isn't made very clear and really isn't ideal. 4. The maintenance isn't great - lots of items are just in need of some TLC. Loose taps, wonky cabinets, the big dishwasher not working. All not ideal 5. Communication wasn't great. I messaged the hosts before arrival and got no response. Never got an actual message from them throughout the whole stay - just stock emails Could be a great place- lots to work on
