We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tower Cottage. It is well laid out and the interior decoration is lovely. Beds and linen were clean and comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The cottage is in a remote, quiet location, situated down a long private drive from the main road. The owner had switched the lights on and the cottage was warm and inviting for our arrival and we were warmly welcomed by the owners two lovely Golden Retrievers! Although we would happily stay again, the Cottage would benefit from an upgrade to the kitchen especially the fridge freezer, cooker, hob and extractor fan. Please be aware there is no internet/wifi at the cottage and we found the mobile phone signal to be variable. Unfortunately we didn't the stated welcome pack and there were no logs available for the wood fire in the lounge. The owner explained that the lake, which is very overgrown and unfishable at present, will be an ongoing improvement project in 2025.

A beautiful old house set in wonderful grounds. Was slightly more remote than I had expected so make sure you stock up on basic foods unless you plan to eat out all the time. Unfortunately the new Covid restrictions meant we could not eat out as much as we would have liked as we had planned to meet up with friends and family. Saying that the local pub gave us three tables all next to each other so we were able to at least see people. It had a great stock of DVDs which pleased the younger members of our family greatly and two beautiful dogs who often came to say hello, another plus. The owner was very friendly and we knew she was only just a phone call away if we needed anything. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

A beautiful setting. Rather remote but an excellent point from which to tour Northumberland and Durham. Dog friendly. Charming helpful owner on site. 3 bedrooms, double with ensuite shower & lavatory. 2 further Doubles adjacent to family bathroom but one has twin beds and is really too small; it's difficult to walk around the beds and to open the wardrobe. Alright for children or adults who don't mind being cramped. Excellent kitchen dining space and very good sitting room. Fridge/freezer was grubby. Some crockery only for four. Useful downstairs loo and large utility room. Use of gardens & excellent Tennis court, some rackets & balls provided. 2 good Italian restaurants in Penteland, nearby Tomahawk steakhouse we thought overpriced for the quality provided

We enjoyed our holiday at tower cottage except the reason we picked it was the free trout fishing on site. Yes there was a lake and yes there were fish of some type there(heron present) but it was covered in blanket weed and the aerator was broken (rusted and on its side in the water) It was impossible to fly fish and trout need a high level of oxygen. It certainly should not have been advertising trout fishing which was a big disappointment. The cottage currently has no WiFi but we were able to access they from another empty cottage - essential for teenagers.
