Hotel Livemax Resort Sanuki Shionoe Onsen

The hotel is located next to a dam and welcomes a lot of families and group travelers with cars. The room is spacious and well equipped (with microwave, for instance). The breakfast and dinner buffet offer quite a variety of food.

The private onsen is great while the room is big and tidy! Worth for family or couple to come and stay over mainly for the private onsen and the hotel is not too far from the airport if you have a flight soon after check out

The property is nicely renovated, offering a clean and relaxing atmosphere. The staff provide warm hospitality and are helpful. It is wonderful having an in-room hot bath. The only drawback is that the soundproofing could be improved, as music from the corridor and loud noise from neighboring room were occasionally disruptive.

Our recent stay was unfortunately quite disappointing. We booked two rooms for our family, both featuring open-air onsen baths, and arrived for check-in around 3:30pm. As we were walking to our rooms, we were surprised to see the hallway filled with foreign workers spreading bed linens directly on the floor. It was not the most welcoming first impression for a supposedly relaxing onsen stay. When we entered our room, we were initially intrigued by the unique design of the open-air onsen. However, the privacy arrangement was very poorly thought out. The bath area only had a black curtain for coverage, and it did not fully cover the space, meaning we would potentially be exposed while showering. After raising our concerns, the staff kindly moved us to rooms on the 3rd floor. Unfortunately, there were ongoing renovations right next to the room, with loud drilling and construction noise. Thankfully, the noise stopped around 5pm, but it was still disruptive for a place meant for rest and relaxation. The 3rd floor rooms were slightly better, but the privacy issue remained in one of the rooms. We actually had to use tape ourselves to secure the curtain so that we would not be exposed while getting in and out of the tub. The outdoor seating area was also quite unpleasant — the chair was extremely dirty and frankly quite terrifying to sit on. As for the meals, both breakfast and dinner were underwhelming. The only positive aspect of the stay was the restaurant staff, who were extremely helpful and courteous. Overall, we were quite relieved to leave the next morning. The experience did not live up to expectations for an onsen stay.
