This was such an enjoyable place, from the onsen to the amazing seafood dinner and a special breakfast our room was nice and spacious we got a good night's sleep. Thank you so much the stuff was so helpful and friendly especially at dinner.

Great traditional Japanese Ryokan to break up the Shimanami Kaido. Check in time was 1530 which is later than I am used to but relaxing out front into garden was fine. The 5 plus course dinner was fantastic. Only downfall was the public bath was not tattoo friendly. I stayed in a Japanese style room which was spacious and the "bed" was very comfortable

I have stayed at many inns in Japan, but my experience at Ryokan Fujimien was very disappointing. When I arrived, the woman at the front desk greeted me with a scornful "What?!" Her disorganization and rudeness made the check-in process very uncomfortable. Although the kitchen staff did a great job, their good service could not make up for the poor treatment I received. The receptionist, with the fake eye color, should not be allowed to act so unprofessionally. There was nothing unusual about my booking or arrival. I was prepared and relaxed, familiar with the routine. This unpleasant experience spoiled what had been a lovely day exploring the islands. I recommend looking for other accommodations in the area for a better stay.
