It sits at the end of a hidden, winding driveway in the Litchfield Hills, up on a rise, with nearly five acres of woodland and open lawn wrapping around it. You feel the quiet before you even get out of the car. That's usually the moment people exhale for the first time all week.
The bones are 19th-century barn: reclaimed beams, wide-plank floors, hand-hewn details that took decades to accumulate. The rest is very much now. Soaring ceilings, beautiful modern finishes, and a great room anchored by a floor-to-ceiling fieldstone fireplace that stops people mid-sentence when they first walk in. Light comes from everywhere. It genuinely looks better in person than in photos, which is saying something.
The kitchen is properly good, the kind you actually want to cook in. Integrated appliances, induction cooktop, an island big enough to spread out on. It opens to the dining area and living room, so whoever's cooking stays part of the party.
