About this apartment rental
We have a charming, family friendly, 2 bedroom 1ba apartment near the Grand Lake theater and Lake Merrit. The apartment is located in a Craftsman era home, near Lakeshore and Grand Ave in Oakland, which are two very popular avenues with lots to offer.
The living room is bright and spacious and includes a new queen size sleeper sofa and flat screen ROKU TV, Wi Fi is also included. There is also a full size dining table in this room.
The first bedroom has a queen size bed that is very comfortable. There is also a vanity, dresser and full closet. We have a toddler mattress, Graco Pack n Play, baby bouncer seat, and large wooden activity cube/toy for small children stored in this closet for your use, if you happen to be traveling with kids.
The second bedroom has a futon with a queen size mattress, that can be used as an extra seating area or it may be converted to a bed. This room also has built in closets with ample storage and extra bedding. Also, there are some games in the closets, available to use.
The bathroom was recently renovated and has a shower over tub. It's clean and nicely appointed. The eat in kitchen is set with a small table for 2, that also has a leaf to expand out to seat 4. The kitchen is fully equipped with all your basic cooking tools and utensils. It has a full refrigerator and freezer, full oven with stovetop, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker.
Our neighborhood has a great sense of community and is very walkable, with many restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops all within a few minutes. We have a Trader Joe s market and Safeway grocery store within walking distance. And every Saturday you can walk a few blocks to the Grand Lake Farmers Market, which is the best market in the area, hands down! There, you will find organic produce, a variety of foods and entertainment. It is also a quick 15 minutes to downtown San Francisco and only 10 minutes to historic Jack London Square in Oakland, by car. The AC Transit buses run to the Ferry Terminals at Jack London or to BART, so it is easy to get around with or without a car.

The pictures do not do it justice. The driveway parking space was doable but tight in our minivan but parking was available on the street every day so we parked there. The light coming in from that bay window and the view are exceptional. The layout is a bit different, however it allows fantastic personal space (from your husband, sister, or daughter whom you've been with for a week). The back yard area is right out of the kitchen door and is a patio with a lush feel. Everything is in fact within walking distance and the hills are gentle so don't worry about that. We easily walked to the Farmers Market, and several times to the grocery store, and the coffee and bagel shop. The couch and the club chair with ottoman sat four of us adults comfortably and we watched a couple of movies during our down time. Big TV! It was a beautiful setting for our 4th of July weekend, even seeing fireworks right outside the bay window! I would stay here again and again.

Lovely, cozy, walkable spot on Lake Merrit close to a ton of cool bars and restaurants. Shockingly quiet, clean, safe neighborhood, and an awesome host, super fast communication and assistance when needed!Lots of little extras like coffee and kitchen gear, everything we needed for meals... and a massive dining table perfect for games. Plus a cozy couch and chair for lounging! Loved it and would definitely stay again!

Property was in very good condition and as advertised. The only issue we had was we did not get the check in information until about 3pm. We had to call to get it. They apologized for not getting it to me sooner. All in all, was very satisfied.

Pros: The place was spacious and in a good location. Cons: everything seemed secondhand or worn, ants in the bathroom, no top sheets on the beds or any spare sheets in storage, and two windows had broken locks which I immediately alerted the owners about. They initially responded by asking for details but then stopped communicating with me for over an hour. I opened a case with VRBO customer service and then the owners came up with a solution but they didn’t even offer a discount for the inconvenience. Wouldn’t stay again.
