About this cottage rental

Stone farmhouse completely restored with 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, sauna area, billiard room, reception and multimedia room. Wi-Fi, 2 lounges, open fires, large dining room, fully equipped kitchen, freezer, washing machine, dryer.
4 facade house with private garden, close to shops and at the foot of the Belgian Ardennes. You will discover many sports or relaxation activities but also many points of interest. You will also be able to discover next to the gîte a small Aubrac breed farm operated by the owners. Beds are made upon arrival, towels are provided and final cleaning is included in the price.

Our stay at Pierre and Martine's farmhouse was wonderful! The view from the backyard out into the pasture's is breathtaking and the kindness shown to us and our family was delightful. We enjoyed day trips to Brugge, Chimay, Dinant, Namur, and Bastogne. Also, don't miss Maresous Abbey a short ride away.

Already for the third time my friends and I were guests in this dreamlike property. The owners are really great and friendly! We were welcomed each time with 2 bottles of wine and warm words. An earlier check-in and later check-out have also been possible each time after consultation. The house is simply a dream. Very well maintained and renovated with love. The bathrooms are very modern and there are enough possibilities to store food and drinks for a whole weekend with 10-14 people. We will be happy to come back!!!

In general, the accomodation was good. We went with a group of friends (12p) between the age of 18 to 25 years old. A big accomodation with a few smaller rooms and one big room. This meant that you can relax on your own, but also with a big group. Outside was also a good sit: chairs and a lounge to sit in with a lot of sun during the day and evening (and a big umbrella to hide from the sun). In the kitchen were all the essentials you need. It was hard to cook for 12 persons, but doable. There was a dishwasher present, but did not clean very well and broke glassware. We told this to the owners, and they would take care of it and the broken glassware was not a problem. The bedrooms and bathrooms were also good enough. There were enough beds for 12 persons. During the week we stayed, it was >30*C, so it was really hot in the bedrooms. Only one bedroom contained a fly screen. The bathrooms were clean and fresh towels were present. The big shower heads were a plus! For 12 people, it was hard to place everyone under a shower, but again doable. The washing machine and dryer came in handy to clean towels. The gîte was seperate from other houses so we had no problems with neighbours and neigbours did not have any problems with us. We did not have any smell problems with the cows, which we were worried about in front. The surroundings: Qua restaurants and entertainment it was limited. Take-away contained mainly Italian food or fries. If we wanted to do anything, we had to drive to Namen or Dînant (~30 minutes). Not a lot of people spoke English or Dutch, but only French. A tip is to use Google Translate. Owners: Very friendly and lived close to the gîte. Unfortunately, Martine and Pierre did not speak English or Dutch, but with Google Translate we made the best of it.

Excelent house, even better than in pictures. Garden is beautiful and location as well. Very comfortable for large groups and heating system worked perfectly. It was an amazing stayed and lovely family gathering.

The house is beautiful: beautifully decorated, and with care, with attention to the essentials and to leisure (BBQ equipment, pool table, a swimming pool for the kids), and has a marvelous and peaceful view. The hosts, Martine and Pierre, are caring, charming and friendly. The village has all you need for a relaxing holidays, and it is near many attractions (from forests to lakes and abbeys to visit). We had a great week with friends!

This lovely cottage is conveniently located approximately 30 minutes drive from Charleroi Airport and 60 minutes drive from Brussels - Zaventem Airport. The rural town of Mettet is south of Belgium and well positioned to explore the surrounding countryside. Day trips to adjacent countries is also an option; we visited both France and Luxembourg while there. The layout of the home is perfect for large groups. Our family of 12 was very comfortable with the sleeping accommodations, and we were delighted that all of us were able to sit at the round dining table for meals! The weather was amazing during our visit, so we spent much of our time on the back patio enjoying the beautiful views. The kitchen was well equipped, and we made good use of the outdoor grill. The owners, Pierre and Martine, were very kind. They greeted us with a warm welcome and were so good about answering any questions we had during our stay. The wine and fresh eggs provided at check-in were a nice touch - thank you, Pierre and Martine! We had a wonderful vacation and would highly recommend this property to others visiting the area!

Our two families both loved our stay at this charming gite with bundles of character. Pierre and Martine are lovely, they are both very warm, welcoming and friendly. Pierre helped us sort out a puncture (bad luck on our part!) and Martine showed the children all the animals a short walk away from the gite. There are a few cows in the field adjoining the back garden of the gite which the children loved. The back garden is very large and the children made the most of it for playing games. The views from the garden and gite are beautiful too. We made use of the BBQ which was great and enjoyed eating outside as Mettet was benefiting from a heatwave across Europe. As a party of 9 (4 adults and 5 children) there was more than enough space for us in the gite. It sleeps 12 easily. For 14 people the sofa bed in the large hall area on the first floor would need to be used. The bedrooms are all a good size and tastefully decorated. Two rooms have their own sinks. The towels and bedding were all provided and of high quality. There are 4 toilets and 4 shower/bathrooms The gite is lovely and clean and very well equipped, with plenty of fridge space, a freezer, wine fridge, combined microwave/oven, another oven, a coffee machine and washing machine/tumbler. There is also a sauna though we didn't use it as the weather was hot enough! The billiard table was great fun for adults and children alike. There is lots to do in and around the area and lots of information about local attractions is provided in the gite. The local bakery is a 10 minute walk or a few minutes cycle ride away and the nearest supermarkets are a short car journey away. Highly recommend trying the produce from the local Abbey - Maredsous - the cheese and beer are both lovely! We loved our holiday in the gite and would highly recommend it. Thank you to Pierre and Martine for making us so very welcome.

Stayed here with my family of 10 people total. The house was absolutely beautiful and a perfect quiet respite after several weeks of traveling. The owners were nearby to answer any questions we had, and even left us fresh eggs, jam, and fruit. The amenities were great (loved the full kitchen!) and the town was a short drive away. Overall a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend this house to any groups.
