Games room with table tennis and dart board. Enclosed garden with patio, garden furniture and barbecue. 1 dog welcome to be kept on a lead at all times (sheep country). Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: This property sleeps a maximum of 4 guests including children/babies.. With sprawling cottage gardens and affording panoramic country side views this former gunpowder store sits in an elevated position within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Take one of the many bridlepath walks from the doorstep. The ideal holiday location to explore both the East and North Yorkshire Coast being just 2 miles from Sandsend and 4 miles from the ancient seaport of Whitby, renowned for its connections with Captain James Cook and Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Golf close by. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Situated in beautiful open countryside this cottage is a welcome rear from my farming life! However I enjoy observing the fields opposite the cottage. Watch out for the barn owl flying through the garden at dusk. The buzzard looking for it's next meal!! So near to Sandsend and Whitby, fantastic location

We’ve just returned from a 3 night stay at this lovely cottage, and we’ve booked to go back next June for 4 nights .It’s spotlessly clean! The beds so comfortable and lovely bedding and huge fluffy white towels . It’s so peaceful and relaxing there !!.We explored the area walking miles every day then chilling with a glass of wine in the evening. The gardens are beautiful.The only thing I would say is that it would be even better if it had a table and chairs on the patio to sit outside and have breakfast enjoying the wonderful views .

This has been our second stay at Gunpowder House in 3 months. This cottage is set in an amazing rural location. The cottage itself has everything you need for a comfortable holiday and the cleanliness is exceptional. The views from the cottage are breathtaking and you can never tire of the amazing scenery. On our first stay we had a lovely welcome basket with goodies which was a lovely touch. However our second most recent stay we didn't have one this is not a criticism was just looking forward to a basket of treats. We will certainly be making Gunpowder House one of our yearly holidays especially at Christmas.

We enjoyed a superb stay at gunpowder house, the cottage is well equipped, clean and spacious. The quality of the bedding and towels was superb,we really enjoyed our stay and would love to stay again. The welcome hamper was a nice touch, thankyou.
