Harbourside

A beautiful location for all of us right on the harbourside. Lots of room for the family to make the most of. Big table was great for long dinners and games.

It could have been cleaner. We had no plug to wash up with either. It needs to state in the details about the room in the loft as it is not accessible to all. A floor plan would be good.

The location is ideal- it is right on the front of the harbour. It is spacious and it is in the centre of the village. Pretty property inside and out.

Unfortunately a toilet was not working from when we arrived to when we left. The management kept us informed and were very apologetic but it was not repaired. The bedrooms in the loft have very low head height and very steep stairs to get up there. We have stayed in Staithes many times before, and basic provisions are generally provided. However there were no dishwasher tablets, alongside other basics.

The property was beautiful and in a superb seafront position. Plenty of room for the whole family. Very clean. A number of provisions were left for us which was a lovely touch.

We liked everything about it. Would agree with your mention of the attic stairs being steep.

I've spent a lot of time considering this review. There are so many positive aspects but, unfortunately, the negatives outweigh them. The positives first. The key box system works a treat. No need to hang around waiting for access. The location is absolutely beautiful. Stunning. We were there in good weather, so could fully appreciate the views and the town. All fabulous. There's a nice size open plan kitchen and dining area, with an enormous dining table. The two double rooms and the twin room are all nice. Cosy, comfortable sitting room. The showers in the ensuite and the main bathroom are both good. We felt that the house could be perfect, but it requires lots of tlc. It certainly feels as if the owners really don't care about the condition of the house, or the comfort of their guests, which is a shame.

There's a dishwasher but no tablets. Had we known, we would have brought some with us. Likewise, there's a washing machine but no washing powder/liquid Dirty cutlery, crockery, glasses, and saucepans. We had to wash everything before we could use it. The cooker hood filters were particularly disgusting, which we noticed initially because of the smell when we put on the fan. The top floor bedrooms are ideal for small children, but not at all good for adults. The stairs to the top floor are very steep. We asked for a cot but there wasn't one put out for us. As it happened, our toddler was more than happy to co-sleep so it wasn't a problem for us, which was just as well. (The requested high chair was there.) One of the toilets blocked on day one, and it was leaking onto the floor, and then through the sitting room ceiling. I immediately alerted the agent, who promised a plumber but he didn't materialise. So the bucket remained in the sitting room for the duration of our stay. Fortunately there are three other toilets so it was fine, apart from the awful smell. We started to mop the floor but realised the mop bucket is broken so we couldn't squeeze the water out of the mop. We had no choice but to leave it. The toilet is the macerator type, with which we were all familiar so there as no question of miss-use.
