Activities:
It’s hard to choose from the multitude of activities on offer in the Arcachon Basin!
Ideally situated, you’ll be able to enjoy the harbour right in front of you and Eyrac Beach, which leads to the Thiers jetty, where you can catch the shuttle boats or set off to explore the spectacular Ville d’Hiver district with its superb early 20th-century houses, its park, its viewpoint with breathtaking views over the Arcachon Basin!
The little train opposite the tourist office will give you plenty of ideas for things to discover and a lovely overview of Arcachon!
At lunchtime, treat yourself to some oysters at one of the oyster ports around the Bassin – perhaps near the port of La Teste or Gujan – or at Arcachon market (make sure you bring a container if you’d like them opened for you, and don’t wait too long to ask). L’Aiguillon also boasts the best fishmonger’s in the Bassin – but be warned, there’s often a queue (!) – then set off to conquer the majestic Dune du Pyla.
If you fancy heading out to sea, there are regular boat shuttles from the Thiers jetty – a 5-minute walk from your accommodation – to Cap Ferret, Île aux Oiseaux and the famous stilted huts!
The Banc d’Arguin, with its crystal-clear waters – paradise on earth!
Paddle down the Leyre to the bird park at Le Teich; choose to be accompanied by a guide, or go it alone in your kayak – it’s simply sublime!
