About this cottage rental
At 400 metres above sea level, under the gaze of Monduver and the fresh Mediterranean breeze can be found this beautiful area, known for centuries as the valley of the Sorcerer. It was here in La Drova that the Cistercian monks from the Monastery of Santa Maria del Valldigna in 1723 built what is known today by the local community as the "Houses of La Drova" which were originally conceived as a rest and shelter for the peasant farmers and draft animals that worked the surrounding land. In the nineteenth century as a result of the confiscation of Mendizabal, the property passed into the hands of two families from the Xalo area from which we, the present owners have over a number of years lovingly restored it, so that others can feel and experience the history through its walls, arches and beautiful landscapes.

My family and I stayed a month in La Drova and enjoyed the beautiful view from Monkshaven. Pepe was a very gracious and attentive host. We hope to come back here some day.

While we were filming a movie in Barx, our sound team lived in the Descanso del Monje for three weeks and they were delighted with everything. They all said it was the best place they had ever stayed during a shoot - not a single complaint, and nothing but praise.
Not only is the Casa Rural beautiful and comfortable and inexpensive, but the owners are equally charming.
I recommend every aspect of it!
