Near Soulac-sur-Mer, 6-bedroom villa with heated indoor pool, jacuzzi, and sauna

The pictures are not very good. In reality the object is much nicer than on the photos. We did not use the sauna but pool and whirlpool, table tennis, table soccer, everything worked perfectly well. Very clean, very easy to communicate, full equipped kitchen, functional bikes, close to the beach… all great. If there was one little thing to comment but I guess this is just the style of houses in that region, the walls are quit thin and you could hear your friends or family in the room next door, not loud and not every word, for us it was not a real bad point.. all well!!!

With 7 members of the party keen to surf every day, this was an ideal location - 10 mins drive from Gurp beach (with a small parade of cafes and restaurants just beyond the campsite). It was also within easy reach (20-30 mins)of the pretty seaside resort of Soulac , supermarkets, petrol stations, local vineyards (with walk-in free tastings) and open markets as well as the bigger surf resort of Hourtin plage (and lake). The beach chalet itself was well equipped (once the broken oven was replaced) with large fridge in kitchen (and second one in utility area for wine and beer!) jacuzzi, lovely warm pool and outdoor table tennis table. Weather in July was extremely hot so we ate all our meals on the large covered veranda and didn't use tv or table football. Bedrooms were minimally equipped with wardrobes only in 2 of them and we queued at times for the bathrooms/shower and one separate toilet. As a party of 11 adults our major caveat is that the 5th and 6th bedrooms are really only suitable for young families as they are upstairs in the sloping eaves of the gite with minimum head room - both had a double and single bed squeezed in them with only storage being a shelf unit and despite both having fans supplied were unbearably hot. Hence overall rating of 3/4 stars. The owner (who spoke limited english) was on site on our arrival with a long list of 'do's and don'ts' - mostly regarding disposal of rubbish/recycling which we were expected to do ourselves (driving around attempting to find local bins) and the daily cleaning and maintenance of the pool and jacuzzi, which again, we were expected to do ourselves (sponge wiping any grease off the edges !) (On our second week, we stayed at a lower priced restored chateau where a pool man was included in the price!) In addition, we also paid a tax of around 94 euros (not listed on the website - although another review mentions it), and agreed to pay an up front cleaning fee of 100 euros (or be expected to clean the entire property - and large outside terrace - before our 10am departure time). Additionally, we had to bring our own beach and bath towels and were expected to make our beds and then strip them before departure. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Grayan (once we had managed to find the property as the address on the website is incorrect!) as the weather was amazing and chalet lifestyle ideal for our surfing needs, but feel that we were definitely paying over the odds for the Location!!!

We started off quite badly as the confirmation email had the wrong address so we turned up at a property that was already occupied by other people and it took nearly 2 hours to sort it out and be taken to the correct address -only 10 minutes away. The property is lovely and plenty big enough for a party of 16 with lovely walks and cycle tracks all around. Pool maintenance we were required to do was a real pain and the two rooms upstairs were unbearably hot - air conditioning really needed in July /August!. The owner also tried to charge us extra for cleaning which was not mentioned in any of the booking information and we refused to take this up. Take your own indoor games, books and toys - outside there are lots but not indoors. We went via the car ferry across the peninsula and a 3 hour wait in a traffic line in hot weather wasn't a good start so probably worth the long trip via Bordeaux. Excellent privacy and ideal for children as it is all securely fenced and the pool cover can be locked down so no chance of them accessing it while you are not on lifeguard duty. !! We were lucky to have a French speaker with us as none of the information was in English and most of the holiday makers around here are French or Belgian.

We, 17 fellow students from Germany, spent 9 nights at this beautiful house. There was nothing we could complain about. All the furniture was in best condition and we had enough space for everybody. We used the pool, whirlpool and sauna every day and could relax completely. The location is very comfortable. You can reach the beaches or supermarkets in 5 minutes by car. It's also a very nice area to go for a walk, run or a bike tour. Daytrips to Bordeaux or Dune du Pilat are possible as well. The Landlord was very kind and helpfull. He gave us good advise where to go out for dinner and made our stay very pleasant. We can totally recommend this perfect house, all of us loved the time kand we would definitely come back sometime.
