Discover Petasos 2, a charming modern and sweet rural retreat nestled in the picturesque area of Sellia. This family-friendly villa offers a perfect blend of comfort and tranquility, accommodating up to 4 guests across its two well-appointed bedrooms.
Petasos Villa boasts a generous 80 sqm of space, comprising 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. On the ground floor, you'll discover a double bedroom with twin beds that can be converted into a double-bed, along with an en-suite bathroom featuring a large shower and WC. An external staircase leads to the upper floor, where a second bedroom, a spacious shower/WC, and a lovely open-plan living and dining area seamlessly connect to a fully equipped modern kitchen. This level features large French windows that open to a spacious veranda, complete with patio furniture and breathtaking views of the Libyan Sea and the surrounding area.
The villa also features a 25 sqm private swimming pool with an attached kids' pool and a shaded area (pergola) housing a barbecue and outdoor furniture – perfect for enjoying your meals al fresco. The property is fully air-conditioned and offers free WiFi and satellite TV, and it includes its own parking area.
Plakias is a coastal settlement located in southern Crete, 40 kilometers south of Rethymno. It is home to 237 permanent residents and is situated in a picturesque cove along a magnificent sandy beach that stretches for 1300 meters between the capes of Stavros and Kako Mouri. This beach is perfect for swimming and water sports enthusiasts. Plakias is divided between the municipalities of Selia in the western part and Mirthios in the eastern part, both of which are charming villages not far from Plakias.
The first recorded mention of Plakias was in the 1961 census when it had only six fishermen as permanent inhabitants. Fantastic views from the upper balcony. Very welcoming friendly owners. Short walk uphill into Sellia for minimarket and tavernas.
Maybe include a safe for valuables.

Villa Petasos is located about 1.5-2 hours from the airport in a small village of Sellia. The villa is recently rebuilt with all the modern amenities (fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, washing machine, air conditioners in every room), the view to the sea is really beautiful and the pool is pretty spacious. The village has a few restaurants and some stores, while the neighboring town of Plakias (10-15 minutes with a car) has quite a few supermarkets / restaurants etc. a nice beach with plenty of space and various activities such as horse riding, boar riding and so on.
A few small cons:
- The hot water from the taps can become quite hot, so be careful
- The internet connection was quite unstable at times, perhaps during peak usage.
- Pool depth is about 1.5m with no gradient, which might be a bit limiting for families with small children.

Der Blick aus dem oberen Wohn-Küchenbereich ist schön
Ein Reinigungsservice hat nur auf Nachfrage stattgefunden. Dafür haben wir nach einigen Tagen morgens sehr früh eine Anfrage an den "Poolboy" gerichtet.
Einige Reinigungstabletten für die Spülmaschine und ein frischer Spülschwamm, wären hilfreich.
Der Außenbereich ist trist und könnte so schön sein, wenn er begrünt wäre statt ein Schotterparkplatz.
Ein größerer Tisch auf dem Balkon im Obergeschoß wäre schön gewesen, um auch jetzt im Herbst draußen zu frühstücken.
Dass das zweite Schlafzimmer nur über eine Außentreppe zu erreichen ist, läßt sich natürlich nicht mehr ändern, es ist aber befremdlich!
