About this house rental

Harviestoun House is a beautifully refurbished 2 storey sandstone cottage in the heart of Dollar, a picturesque small town at the foot of the Ochil hills 13 miles east of the historic city of Stirling.
The cottage comfortably sleeps 8 people in four bedrooms. There are two bedrooms on the ground floor. Bedroom one, with en-suite shower room and fitted wardrobe, has the flexibility of being either 2 twin beds or one superking size bed. Bedroom two has a double bed. Upstairs, reached from the galleried landing, bedrooms three and four can be either twin rooms or have superking size beds. Both rooms share a modern bathroom with over bath shower.
Downstairs the double height sitting room seats 8 people on two three seater sofas and one two seater sofa. There is a log burning stove for you to return to after sightseeing or walking in this beautiful area in the heart of Scotland. The sitting room, like all other rooms, has all new furniture and fittings and gas central heating.
The kitchen, with all modern conveniences including 4 ring gas stove and double electric oven, has a dining table for 8 people and a television with Freeview. Leading from the kitchen is a utility room with washing machine and tumble drier. Also just off the kitchen is a sunroom which leads to the courtyard garden with outdoor seating and barbecue.
Steeped in history, Dollar has all facilities including cafes, restaurants and shopping on your doorstep. Visit 500 year old Castle Campbell, lowland seat of the Duke of Argyll, where Mary, Queen of Scots once lived in the 16th Century. The walk to the castle is by a spectacular series of paths, bridges and walkways in the deep gorges of the glen and its tributaries. Dollar’s other facilities include a small museum and 18 hole golf course notable for its steep inclines and lack of bunkers.
As well as being close to Stirling, Dollar is within easy reach of Glasgow and Edinburgh and St Andrews to the east so you are perfectly situated to take advantage of all Scotland has to offer from this central location.

A lovely property in a beautiful town.

We had a wonderful stay at the house. It is very spacious, with plenty of room for our group of seven adults. Restaurants, supermarket and the beautiful castle Campbell within walking distance. The place is fully equipped with everything you need: dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer. The beds were comfortable, though the duvets were a bit too warm for the season. With three bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen (including a stocked fridge with milk and eggs), we really couldn’t complain. After returning home, there was some discussion about an alleged damage issue, but thankfully this was resolved in a fair and professional way.

We had a lovely stay at Harviestoun House. The bedrooms were particularly generous in size and comfortable. The kitchen was the best stocked of any of the houses we stayed in during our trip. Excellent handbook of appliance manuals and instructions. So much to see in the area from Edinburgh to Stirling, Culross, the Japanese Garden, Crieff. My two minor criticisms are that the table in the kitchen is a bit tight and the parking situation is not good, especially with a larger group.

Dollar was an adorable little town and this house was just perfect. The house in centrally located in town, easy walk to shops and with everything you could need for your stay. We chose to stay here because it was a good spot between Stirling, Edinburgh, and Perth, but we ended up spending a few days in Dollar because it was so beautiful and had access to some great walking trails and Castle Campbell. I would highly recommend this house and this town for your holiday.

It was a little difficult to locate the property, perhaps easier to direct people to park in the small lane down the side of the house? So much easier to unload the car there too. Communication with Stirling Self Catering was excellent, fantastic in fact. We loved the house, so roomy and well equipped, spotlessly clean too. Beds were huge which was great! Having never visited the area before, we loved Dollar and the surrounding countryside, plenty to see and do. We would love to come back at a later date.

Lovely cottage in a perfect location for us to explore St. Andrews, Edinburgh, and Troon. Dollar is an adorable little village with just enough restaurants. We also hiked up to the castle-it was so picturesque.

Lovely house, lots of space. Beds were comfy and thought if pretty much everything you might need. Clearer signed parking area at back may have helped but would come back

The house is on a main road but once we found it and our way around to park at the side, it was easy. The house was very clean and well presented and warmed up quickly. The provision of milk, bread, eggs and butter was a lovely touch but I had ordered a shopping delivery so we had extra to take home. We cooked in the kitchen and it was very well equipped. We had everything we needed. It is a short walk to the village shops, cafes and restaurants making it ideal to go out for meals and provisions. I would recommend the property to anyone looking for somewhere in this area.
