Staycations don’t get much better than Shire Cottage and the only issue you will have is trying to fit everything in!. Ground Floor:

Shire Cottage is a gorgeous stone-built property set within the heart of the historic town of Pateley Bridge, tucked away nicely just off the High Street in a delightful little courtyard.
Set over two floors you enter the property on the ground floor into the open plan living area, which is a comfortable, cosy area to relax in after a day exploring this stunning area. With exposed wooden beams and stone throughout the ground floor you instantly have that cottage feel. The equipped for all your culinary needs along with a dining table which seats four people should you not wish to dine out in the many eateries close by. On the first floor there are two good sized bedrooms both with plush double beds guaranteeing a great night’s sleep ensuring you are ready for the next days adventure. On the same floor there is a lovely family bathroom which presents a shower over the bath.
Shire Cottage offers families, couples and friends a perfect holiday retreat whilst being ideally located to explore all that the Nidderdale AONB and the Yorkshire Dales has to offer. With the cottage situated just 250 yards from the High Street, the local pubs and restaurants are within easy reach. Explore the vast countryside of the Yorkshire Dales and Nidderdale AONB, which are both packed with rolling hills stretching as far as the eye can see. The area is full of bike trails and fantastic scenic walks, you will never struggle to find something to keep yourselves entertained. Alternatively, the beautiful cathedral city of Ripon is only 11 miles away along with the stylish spa town of Harrogate 30 minutes by car. Nearby National Trust attractions include the magnificent Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal near Ripon and Brimham Rocks in Summerbridge which are all a must. If you did want to leave the driving for another day, there are great walks available on your doorstep with the River Nidd running straight through Pateley Bridge.

The cottage had pretty much everything we needed but there are a few issues. The sofas are very comfy and recline. The shower is electric and not powerful. The TV is Internet based channels only such as BBC I player. It also constantly wants to update. The tv remote had dead batteries. The pictures on the oven knob had worn away in places so you didnt know what function you were putting the oven on. There were no oven instructions and yet there was a folder full of instructions for everything else. The cottage is one of three in a pub courtyard so you do get pub noise. About 8.45am on a morning they crash the empty bottles into the bin. On a Friday there is a cask delivery. You are a few yards away from the outside smoking area so there is also noise from that on a night. Pateley bridge is a small town with a few gift shops. There are only 2 pubs. Lovely hot chocolate shop. The price we paid for our stay was very good value.

Close to amenities, perfect location for us, cottage was very clean , everything we needed at hand, bed was comfortable, however , understandable the bunk bed is good for families, it wasn’t so good for my daughter and her husband.Apart from that an enjoyable stay and would recommend.
