About this cottage rental

Salty Dog is situated on Blue Anchor Road, a favourite location with Bay regulars as it is close to the beach, tennis court, playground and village centre, but also very private.

Living space

Enter through the side door into the hallway with coat and shoe storage.

To the right is the open-plan kitchen / dining / lounge space with bifold doors to the front deck. The kitchen is very well-equipped with tall fridge-freezer, and all the appliances you'll need for your holiday. There's a smart TV, sofa-chaise and armchair in the living area, and a table and chairs in the kitchen space.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

To your left are the main bedroom with kingsize bed and ensuite shower room, and the second bedroom with 2 small singles (can be a king on request). There is also another shower room with jack-and-jill doors from the hallway and the second bedroom.

Heating

Gas central heating, electric towel rails in the bathrooms, and a log burner too!

Outside space

The front deck has a patio table and benches which gets the morning sun, ideal for alfresco breakfast or morning coffee. At the rear is a set of 2 seats/table between, so you can enjoy the afternoon sun.

Parking

There is a drive to the side of the house with space for 1-2 cars.

Accessibility

The driveway/path sleepers can be uneven and slippery when wet and therefore this property may not be suitable for guests with mobility issues.

We have stayed at The Bay many times, and I believe this is the best property we have stayed at. The property is very well equipped with everything you could need for a relaxing weekend. The main bed was exceptionally comfortable and this property (unlike many rental properties) has an oven that actually heats up well and is ft for use. Love, love, love, the Salty Dog Bag and crisps - an excellent touch!!! The property was exceptionally clean and every blanket and cover smelt freshly laundered. Hats off to the cleaning team. There is literally nothing that we could complain about for this property, it is exceptionally well looked after and was a joy to stay in - Well done!!!

As a frequent guest at The Bay, Filey, I've stayed in many of the Beach Houses, and Salty Dog is easily my favorite. The owner has clearly put a great deal of care into its maintenance and unique personal touches. The main bed is extremely comfortable, and both the kitchen and shower rooms are in excellent condition. The charming "Salty Dog" theme is woven throughout the property, from the stained glass door and porthole to the bedding and decorative ornaments. Its location is perfect for quick access to the beach, leisure facilities, pub, and cafe. Communication with the management team was also excellent. I will definitely be staying here again.

This is the third time at The Salty Dog. Love the spacious but quirky interior and the cute Salty Dog branding within the cabin. Great that it welcomes dogs and so many many thoughtful touches that make your stay special. Would highly recommend to anyone considering a visit to Filey Bay Thank you again

Salty Dog is our favourite place to stay when we visit Filey, it's so comfortable and beautifully furnished/decorated. The kitchen is well supplied with what we need for self-catering. There was also handwash and bodywash in the bathrooms. It's situated on a quiet cul de sac but close to the amenities: pub, leisure centre, shop and pharmacy. We enjoy a walk along the beach to Filey or in the opposite direction to the Beach Cafe at Hunmanby Gap (there's a nice cliff top walk to the Gap which can be accessed through a gate from the site). We look forward to returning to Salty Dog again very soon.

Absolutely loved our stay at Salty Dog. The accommodation was very clean and warm. The bed was comfy and shower superb. We had good weather some of the time and able to use the bi folding doors which was great! We have never stayed at The Bay before but absolutely fell in love with it. It was a very clean complex with a great path to the beach. Our dog loved her time there and the beach was fantastic. A shop and a pub on the complex which we used was good. I would highly recommend Salty Dog for anyone looking to stay with their dog they will love it !

We enjoyed our stay at Salty Dog. It's a welcoming,clean and attractively presented lodge in a prime location. Salty Dog is fully equipped and there's everything you need for an enjoyable stay. As others have mentioned, the beds are extremely comfortable aiding a restful sleep. As usual, excellent communication from Paula, the manager. Highly recommended!

My sister and I stayed for a weekend with 2 dogs and couldn’t be happier with the Salty Dog! The kitchen was well equipped (not that we used much!), 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which were all clean and lovely. The dogs loved it here with the long stretch of beach up to Filey and were completely worn out and sleepy after a day on the beach Wouldn’t hesitate to book again and thank you to Paula for arranging at short notice!

We have stayed at the bay many times but this was our first time at Salty Dog.Great position gets the sun in the morning on the front decking and in the afternoon at the side which has seats. The accommodation as everything you need for self catering also lots of things for children if you have them. We will be booking again our dogs loved it.

We simply love staying at The Salty Dog, the facilities are very good, the location is perfect for us and our dog to spend a few days relaxing in comfortable surroundings at any time of year. We enjoy walking along the beach to Filey and having a swim in the pool at The Bay afterwards. We also enjoy visiting Scarborough, Bridlington and Flamborough. There are lots of good dog friendly places to eat in the area (CJs in Filey is a great place for fish n chips) or you can get a takeaway and sit in the Crescent Gardens and /or visit Angela's tea room. We will soon be planning our next visit to the Salty Dog.

This is my 2nd stay at The Salty Dog. The property is lovely , comfortable seating in the lounge area , comfortable beds. Every appliance you would need in the kitchen & dog friendly too . It’s just a short walk down to the beach. Facilities on site are good but if you needed anything that the shop or chemist doesn’t provide then it’s not far to drive into Filey, less than 10 mins I’d say. It’s also a great location to base yourself if you want to go exploring along the coast .

We had an amazing stay at Salty Dog. The accommodation was a perfect size for us (2 adults, a toddler and a dog) and was really generously stocked with everything that we needed for a really comfortable stay. Due to the bad weather, we didn’t walk all the way to the beach but it was really easily signposted from the accommodation. Overall a great stay and we will definitely return.

The Salty dog is very well equipped and immaculatey clean, ideally located for any of the attractions on rhe East coast, its position on the Bay is also very good, close to the ammenities, but with no passing traffic or people due to its position up a cul de sac making it private. We loved our stay and would definately stop again, one small suggestion? a rotary clothes line at the back of the buikding would be useful for drying beach clothes and dog towels

We have stayed at the Salty Dog on two previous occasions and it never disappoints. It’s cleaned to a very high standard, location is fantastic. It’s the little things that make it special like cleaning material left eg bin bags, milk in the fridge etc. Highly recommended and will be staying again.

We've stayed before at Salty Dog and it's perfect for the two of us and our dog. It's in a quiet cul de sac but near the amenities and with a grassy area to the rear. It's very comfortable and well equipped with lots of thoughtful extras. There was also a welcome pack and some milk in the fridge and ice cubes in the freezer. We enjoyed using the swimming pool and after checking out we walked to the Beach cafe at Hunmanby Gap for breakfast before heading home. We love Filey and the surrounding areas and are already planning to return.

Not only was the accommodation perfect in every way the mattress in the main bedroom surpassed even 5* hotels that I have stayed in. Salty Dog was a real home form home, the kitchen was fully stocked even down to lunch boxes for picnics. We will definitely be returning.

Beautiful beach hut which has everything needed for a home from home break. Even the fur baby has his own bowls and dog treats and we love the fact that there are 'salty dog' references all over, from the tiles in the kitchen to the wooden chopping board. Also love that it has plenty of large mugs - nothing worse when away to have those tiddly cups for your morning cuppa! Paula is on hand and replies as soon as possible with advise and helpful tips. Spotlessly clean which is sometimes difficult when you have a dog friendly accommodation. You wouldn't believe there has been a dog in there. We have stayed at the Salty Dog many times and will continue to do so wherever possible although all the properties managed by Filey Bay Direct/Paula are always cleaned to the same specification.

Stayed in many different Niki Beach accommodation on this site over the years but this has to be the best one. Everything spot on and on hand, very comfy and pleasant accommodation with many lovely little touches provided for by the owner. Décor throughout high quality in all respects, like unique nature of 'Salty Dog' throughout the property, beds, particularly comfortable and a lovely cake left for us on arrival from Sara and George. Highly recommended for a break

A very pleasant stay in a great location. The lodge has everything you could require when on vacation. My elderly parents found it very easy to get about in the surrounding area and were helped by a member of owners direct when having difficulty in gaining access to the key safe. We have already booked again for a family holiday in october

Fantastic 3 night stay at Salty Dog. The location is perfect, just a short walk to the beach. The on-site pub served lovely food and dog friendly. The accommodation was spacious, really clean and catered for everything. This was our first visit but we will be back

The salty dog lodge was lovely. Very dog friendly and great facilities on site. 4 adults and 3 dogs stayed there was still plenty of room and very cosy. We had all the utensils we needed to cook and all cleaning products. The garden at the sides and back were not enclosed however still adequate grass for the fur babies to have a wee. Would recommend staying here. The only thing to be careful of is the wooden rails on the drive as they can become slippy. A lovely stay and would definitely book and visit again. A great location near the facilities and path to the beach.

We had a great stay here. Great position on the Bay site near the pool and eateries/shops. 5 mins to the beach path. The accommodation is clean, modern and comfortable with plenty of mod cons. The only minor criticism I have is that neither of the bedroom tvs were working while we were there.However not a problem for us as we were out and enjoying the area and the room tv was fine for what we needed. We would definitely stay here again.

Just back from a relaxed short break. Great communication prior to arrival made everything straightforward to get in and settled. The Bay is a great base for the surrounding area, is peaceful and has access to a lovely beach. The salty dog is well equipped and cared for. Lots of lovely personal touches really make it feel like a home from home (but with better weather). Feels spacious even though it’s not massive and we had a great time (2 adults 2 children >12). Would love to come back if we get a chance. Highly recommend

What a place, it's absolutely fantastic. From the day of booking to the day of leaving Paula has been so helpful and nothing has been too much trouble. The property is beautiful, there are many querky ornaments and the pictures are gorgeous. The dogs kept sniffing at one draw in particular and it was full of dog toys which they loved. Cleanliness is one thing both my wife and myself commented on, it was impeccable. The welcome bag has some really nice goodies in it too, we've brought the bag home and I'll be using it to take my lunch to work with to remind me how much we and the dogs loved the place. One last thing, the bed is sooo comfortable and I loved the rocking chair so much were thinking of buying one for home. Highly recommended.

The Salty Dog is a lovely beach house. The owner Sara had thought of every possible(almost) thing you might need. With it being warm and having the windows open, flies everywhere, could done with a fly catcher or deterrent. No coffee machine, I luckily had brought my mini Nespresso(small enough to fit in jute bag) and pods with me. The theme of Salty Dog runs the whole house and outside on the deck, its fascinating to see it all. Reason for mark of 4 condition it has been there a while The Salty Dog and it is beginning to show its age, flooring lifting, stains on bathroom door, dishwasher door catching, 4 for cleanliness, ceiling in both bathrooms cobwebs and dust, high ceiling so need a ladder to reach. Unfortunately watch too much 'four in a bed' and now spot these things. My son said the telly in the living area was too small to see and had to pull sofa forward. Although none of these problems will stop me going back, it was a lovely homely place for a get away, very quiet on site. Had free use of gym and pool and other activities. Sleeping very important, lovely firm mattress and cooling duvet. Have been to other place and they don't think to put a lower tog duvet on in the warm months, Sara had obviously thought of this, a godsend. Thoroughly recommend staying here.
