Gite near Bagneres de Bigorre, Hautes-Pyrenees, Midi-Pyrenees, France - Peaceful Location With Stunning Mountain Views and shared pool.
This spacious and well appointed gite is situated on the end of our 18th century farmhouse and set in 1 acre of south facing garden with 10m x 5m pool enjoying a wonderful, natural setting with suberb mountain views.
We are situated at the base of the Haute Pyrenees within the village of Cieutat, which has a traditional 'boulangerie' providing freshly made bread/croissants and patisserie every morning.
Gites de Bigorre is the perfect place for whatever event or activity holiday you are planning – or just for total relaxation in a stunning setting.
The gite is well placed for all mountain activities i.e skiing, cycling, walking at all levels, mountain biking, paragliding, horse riding, bird watching and fishing. For golfers there is a beautiful international 18-hole course (overlooking the mountains) within a 5mins drive. Or take things at a more leisurely pace and visit the local mountain villages, nearby Pau, beautiful St Bertrand de Comminges, a pilgrimage to Lourdes, take a day trip over the mountains into Spain via the many passes or tunnels or visit one of the numerous thermal spas.
The Tour de France is also a big attraction here in July and in the winter there is some of the best skiing and winter sports facilities in the Pyrenees.
The gite benefits from a shared pool in the privacy of the main garden with fantastic panoramic views. The perfect way to end an active day or to simply relax the day away.
Although the gite is very well equipped for self catering there are many bars and restaurants in the nearby spa town of Bagneres de Bigorre.Or in the mature gardens there are stone built barbeques with plenty of seating again affording magnificent views of the mountains.
Please note that WIFI is available but we are in rural France and it can therefore be slow. However 4G works well.

6 of us stayed a week in late June. Ample space, 2 br and bath downstairs, open kitchen and reception room upstairs. Toilet upstairs. A car is necessary, as the village has no shops, just a bakery open daytime. The stairs are quite steep, but navigable, even by an elderly person with a recent hip fracture. The owners/hosts are charming, eager to help, and keep the pool and grounds very clean. Highly recommended.

Lovely clean, bright and comfortable gite with dramatic views to the mountains and the gentle tinkling of cow bells! Kerry and Mike couldn't be more helpful. Good location for exploring the haute Pyrenees.

We wanted accommodation that had easy access to the mountains but also had a swimming pool. A view of the mountains was essential. This gite ticked all the boxes and we had a fabulous holiday. I agree with all the other reviews; the views, our hosts, the facilities and the cleanliness were all spot on. A week wasn't enough to visit all the places we want to in this stunning region so hopefully we'll return and spend longer in Gites de Bigorre.

We had chosen this gite on the basis of its proximity to the Tour de France and it exceeded our expectations in every way. A week here was simply not enough! Our one bedroom accommodation was well presented, well equipped and just the right size, but it was the views that made it so special, Our floor to ceiling window in the living room upstairs had amazing views across the fields and village to the Pyrenees beyond. During the day we enjoyed swimming in the pool and in the evenings we loved to sit outside with a glass of wine, reading or just drinking in the view. There is a good bakery in the village and plenty of shops and restaurants in nearby Bagnères de Bigorre. There are also lots of lovely places to visit in the area and a very good spa in town. If you are a walker or a cyclist or if you just want a relaxing week or two, then I would recommend this gite. Many thanks to Kerry and Mike for a fabulous week.
