About this house rental

There are plenty of lakefront rentals near Nashville. There's nothing else quite like this one.

Cottage 310 is a private lakefront sanctuary for two — the main-level experience at The Cozy Cottage on Old Hickory Lake. It was designed for the couple who wants to actually disappear for a few days: no shared walls, no other guests, no agenda. Just a private king suite, a cedar-lined living room, a 2-person FAR infrared sauna with Turkish robes waiting, a firepit on the water, and deer grazing through the yard at dusk like they own the place — because in a way, they do.

Thirty-five minutes from Nashville. A world away from it.

Cottage 310 is its own dedicated listing, available on a rolling 45-day window. Availability is managed separately from the full four-bedroom Cozy Cottage, so when you book, the property is entirely yours.

INSIDE COTTAGE 310

The main level is oriented entirely around comfort and quiet.

The king suite has a spa-inspired ensuite bath, Turkish robes, and a towel warmer — the kind of details that feel like someone actually thought about your stay rather than just checked boxes. The cedar-lined living room has an electric fireplace, lake views, and the kind of deep-cushioned seating that makes it easy to spend an entire rainy afternoon without moving.

The kitchen is fully stocked with quality cookware, a curated coffee bar with drip, pod, and French press options, and a take-some/leave-some pantry — so mornings can start as slowly as you want. The walk-out deck sits above the water with outdoor dining, a propane grill, and views toward the cove.

→ Refillable bath essentials — shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap

THE SAUNA — THE REASON GUESTS COME BACK

Slip on the robe. Step inside. Let the warmth do its work.

The Dynamic Santiago Elite is a 2-person FAR infrared sauna — ultra-low EMF carbon heating panels that warm you from the inside out, without the intensity of steam or extreme heat. It heats differently than a traditional sauna, with a deep, radiant warmth that moves through you slowly. First-timers are always pleasantly surprised. People who know infrared come back specifically for it.

The unit also features a chromotherapy lighting system, including a red light setting — so you can set the mood while the infrared heat does its work. Bluetooth speakers are built in if you want music. Or leave it quiet. Both are good choices.

In summer, it's the perfect wind-down after a day on the water. In fall and winter, when the lake is still and the air is cold, it becomes the entire reason for the trip. Slip on the robe, take your time, and let it work.

Note: Please shower before use and avoid perfumes or scented oils — infrared saunas absorb fragrance and we keep it fresh for every guest.

THE OUTDOORS

From the walk-out deck, 57 steps across a gently sloped yard brings you to the shoreline of Old Hickory Lake. The protected cove near Sunset Island keeps the water calmer than the main channel — ideal for a quiet morning paddle, an afternoon of shoreline fishing, or simply sitting at the water's edge with nowhere to be.

Two kayaks and life vests are ready. Fishing gear is stocked.

When the light drops, the firepit takes over. Two chairs, a real wood fire, and a sky fuller of stars than you expected this close to Nashville. The gas fire table on the lower patio is there for the quieter evenings — something warm nearby while the lake settles in for the night.

A NOTE ABOUT THE SHORELINE

Old Hickory Lake is a real, working lake managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. After rain or changes in current, natural debris — including driftwood, branches, or the occasional uprooted tree — can collect along the shoreline. We clear it regularly, but nature leads here. Water shoes are recommended any time you're in or near the water. If something needs attention during your stay, just let us know.

THE WILDLIFE

Deer move through the yard daily — often in herds of 8 to 20 — and geese lounge on the dock like they own it. Turtles sun on the logs, a fox slips through the meadow at dusk, and our resident skunk visits the water's edge most evenings, minding his own business entirely.

Please enjoy them from a distance. These are wild animals — not pets. Deer in particular can be unpredictable, especially in spring when does have fawns nearby and in fall during rutting season. Watch from the deck, take the photos, and let them do their thing. It's one of the best parts of staying here.

WHY GUESTS COME BACK

Guests come back for the quiet. Not the silence of an empty place, but the particular quiet of a morning on the lake when the mist hasn't lifted yet and the coffee is still hot and nobody has anywhere to be.

They come back for the sauna — the robe on the hook, the chromotherapy light setting the mood, twenty minutes that feel like a full reset. For the firepit after dark, two chairs pulled close, a sky fuller of stars than the city ever lets you see.

They come back because this is the private escape near Nashville that couples actually can't find anywhere else. A real king suite. A real lakefront. A sauna that does more than most spas charge three times as much to offer. And nobody else on the property.

It feels like staying somewhere that was made specifically for you — because in a way, it was.

LOCATION

Set in Gallatin's quiet Sunset Bay community on Old Hickory Lake — 5 to 7 minutes to groceries, coffee, and restaurants, and 35 minutes to downtown Nashville. Close enough for a night on Broadway or dinner in the Gulch. Far enough that you'll actually want to come back to the lake.

→ 5–7 minutes to groceries, Starbucks, and restaurants
→ 35 minutes to downtown Nashville and Broadway
→ 40 minutes to Nashville International Airport

The neighborhood is quiet and walkable — perfect for a morning stroll before the day begins.

CAMERAS & SECURITY

For the safety and security of guests and the property, three exterior cameras are located on the premises — covering the driveway, the front walkway, and the back deck overlooking the yard toward the water. All cameras face outdoor areas only. There are no cameras inside the home or in any private spaces. Cameras are not actively monitored.

A NOTE FROM THE OWNERS

We're Don and Dora — and Cottage 310 is the private main-level experience of The Cozy Cottage, a property we've cared for ourselves since 2019, after years in construction and renovation. We know what makes a space feel genuinely comfortable rather than just adequate, and we put all of it into this place.

The lower level of the home has its own entrance and remains locked throughout your stay. You won't hear anyone, share anything, or feel anything other than completely alone — in the best possible way.

If you love what Cottage 310 offers and ever want to bring the whole family or a group of friends, The Cozy Cottage's full four-bedroom, three-bath experience is available separately — same property, same owners, same care, sleeping up to 8. Ask us anytime.

The host was easy to get a hold of. Cute little cabin, it was perfect for my husband and I and our little dog for the weekend. Husband LOVED fishing out back. Super quiet area, saw several deer and also loved the firepit out back. Would highly recommend this little cozy cabin.

The cottage was great - we really enjoyed our stay!
6 / 10Average·Oct 2023
The cottage is in a great location if you want to be on the lake. There is easy access to the nice dock on the property. We had easy communication with the host. However, entry walkway and the steps leading to the cottage deck are slick if wet due to algae growth. Note if you have pets, the gate on the deck does not latch without manually lifting latch for a secure catch. In addition, there are many rules and individual fees accessed if those rules are broken. One of which - you are responsible to pull garbage cans to the street on Thursdays for pickup on Friday. If you fail to do that, if I remember correctly, there is a $40. Fee accessed per can. I understand placing garbage in cans but pulling cans to the street for pickup does not merit a relaxing vacation along with other fees you need to be aware of. I did not find this information when booking - so be sure you check the rule book after arriving to avoid other various fees that you could be charged for.
