About this house rental
The “Casa de Penas de Cima” estate is situated in northern Portugal in Geraz do Minho, 15 km from Braga, 20 km from Guimarães, 20 km from the Peneda-Gerês National Park, and 70 km from Porto and its international airport.
Set in a splendid location where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful stay, the estate comprises four independent farmhouses, beautifully renovated in an authentic Portuguese style: the ‘Casa da Borboleta’ with 3 bedrooms, the ‘Casa do Forno’ with 2 bedrooms and a private garden, the ‘Casa da Colmeia’ with 2 bedrooms, and the ‘Casa das Azeitonas’ with 2 bedrooms.
The estate features a magnificent communal garden surrounding a large shared swimming pool (7 x 13 metres).
Casa da Colmeia is on two (2) floors and is very spacious and comfortable.
The two bedrooms are on the ground floor and each one has a chest of drawers and an en-suite bathroom with a shower and toilet. The first bedroom, which is the larger of the two, has three single beds, whilst the second bedroom, which is the smaller of the two, has two single beds. The French windows in the bedrooms open onto the inner courtyard.
On the first floor is a large spacious open lounge and dining area. The lounge is very comfortable and has nice views of the gardens and the valley. The dining area has a farmhouse dining table with seating for six (6) people. The lounge is also equipped with a TV / video (CD & VMS), and a writing desk.
On the first floor is a large open sitting room and dining area with seating for six (6) people. The area is equipped with a writing desk, TV / video (CD) and a well-stocked bookcase.
The fully fitted kitchen is just off the dining room and is fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, cooker and fridge
The house has been renovated to a high standard with all modern utilities but it still retains its original ambience and period style. The positioning of the house coupled with the old thick granite walls ensure, a pleasant temperature in the house all year round - even in the height of the summer.
The house originally housed the farm workers on the first floor with the larger farm animals sleeping below - when the house was a working-farm it was traditional for the workers to sleep above the animals for the additional warmth they brought.
The house is strictly non-smoking.
