Positives: Very clean. Great shower with lots of hot water. Secure off-street parking though backing out onto the main street can be a bit tricky. Porto da Cruz is a safe, walkable village with several nice restaurants to choose from. Local distillery nearby with free tours. Local bus stop right outside the front door. I would highly recommend the non-express bus to Funchal as a great way to view the countryside, though it can be a bit scary for those unfamiliar with the narrow, steep roads! Negatives: Strong, musty odor each time you enter the cottage, most likely from the proximity to the ocean. A small, portable dehumidifier would help. The stove that is listed is actually a 2-burner hot plate. You can only run 1 kitchen appliance at a time. There is a washing machine but no dryer. A clothes line in the porch would help. It would also be helpful to have a handrail on the stairway, especially for going downstairs to the bathroom at night.

We can really recommend this location.We had a very warm welcome by the owners. The little house was well equipped with everything you need. Whenever we returned from our numerous Levada hikes it felt like coming home. If we came again I am sure I would take exactly this little house again. Many thanks to Guadalupe and Ricardo

After a very warm welcome, i enjoyed my holiday in the cottage very much. The house has everything you need, is clean and comfortable. The owners were very friendly and did all for my satisfaction.The destination is perfect to dicover the whole island. I would return every time again. Thanks very much to Guadalupe and Carlos.
