A message directly from the owner to describe her experience and testament to future visitors:

This house embodies the history of a farming family that has cultivated and cherished their land with respect for nature and its cycles. Surrounded by hectares of woodland and arable fields, it represents an invaluable heritage. Generations who have lived here, from my grandparents to my father and his brothers, along with their sharecropping families, have drawn sustenance from its fertile lands. During the Second World War, this estate stood as an example of harmony and solidarity, surviving through a coexistence of obligations, rights, and duties, while keeping traditions alive even in the most difficult times.

"Barghini" is not just the name of the street where Villa del Nonno stands; it also represents the connection with my father's uncle, the local "Lord" of the village who allowed my grandfather and his family to live in this house, expressing the desire that it be cared for and passed down to his favourite nephew, my father Cesare, the grandfather of my children. It is here, in this countryside, that I learned from my grandfather and father to recognize the sounds of birds, identify forest mushrooms, tend to fruit trees, and appreciate the serenity and beauty of sunsets.

This house has also taught my children, through their grandfather, to love rural life in all seasons, to enjoy the simplicity of ingredients, and to experiment with recipes passed down by their grandmother. My grandmother, a strong and tenacious woman, managed the farm activities and sold products along the road, while my grandfather, more contemplative, dedicated his time to the plants that now flourish in the garden.

All those family memories and feelings they are what I wish for my guests to experience and appreciate during their stay at Villa del Nonno: the tranquillity of the countryside, the value of nature and its traditions, the taste of extra virgin olive oil, and the exquisite products that Tuscany offers and cannot be found elsewhere.

We spent a week at villa del nonno as a family and enjoyed our stay at such a beautiful property. The villa was lovely, very spacious for our group of 10, and we loved the feel of a traditional Tuscan villa updated with some nice modern touches. The home was well maintained and clean upon our arrival, and the property manager helped us get settled in and was available throughout the week for any questions. We especially loved the beautiful outdoor space, the outdoor dining area, pool, gardens and stunning sunsets were the perfect backdrop for creating family memories. The villa is well located in a quiet farming area, with easy access to Pisa, Lucca and Florence for day trips. We enjoyed our stay!

We had a wonderful 8 nights staying at Villa del Nonno and wished we could have stayed longer. Our adult children and their friends and partners joined us at Villa del Nonno for a week of relaxing, eating and sunbathing. Everything was perfect. Newly renovated, the villa is stylishly furnished with a mix of contemporary and antique pieces which were all very pleasing on the eye, something that is important to us! The property is spacious and easy to live in. The main sitting area is new - large and light filled with plenty of relaxed seating and a large dining table, plus there is efficient air conditioning. The kitchen is well stocked with everything even the most adventurous cook might need. Upstairs the bedrooms are all large and beautifully furnished with lovely antiques but comfortable modern mattresses. Even though bathrooms are shared they are arranged as such that there are two bedrooms per bathroom and it makes sharing bathrooms very easy indeed. Outside is beautiful. The large swimming pool is surrounded by modern comfortable furniture and sun beds and there is space for everyone. Best of all is the covered veranda. It has a large table for 12 plus a sofa and armchairs. This space was a god send - whether is was blazing hot or driving rain - we could all still sit outside. Villa del Nonno worked perfectly for us and we can highly recommend! One of the nicest places we have stayed. Location is great with easy access to supermarkets and shops. Only comment we can make here is that the WiFi was a little slow, but we know the lovely owner is installing StarLink, so that is no longer an issue.

Villa del Nonno is a special home. It is tucked in the private Tuscan countryside and provides a peaceful, private haven of luxury. All of the amenities of home are provided, because this is clearly a home, with a spirit of history and love, shown in each thoughtful detail throughout the home. We took full advantage of the cozy portico and the private pool, especially at sunset, which was magical. While we didn’t want to leave the property, we were within close range of some great towns - Montecarlo and Lucca were close enough to visit repeatedly. The hospitality of the owner and concierge went beyond expectation. On arrival, we were greeted with fresh focaccia, and lemons and plums from the garden. We enjoyed magnificent meals at establishments recommended by both as well. We would recommend Villa del Nonno unreservedly. We hope to return soon.

This is an outstanding property with an outstanding owner who quickly responds and acts on questions and minor issues. We had 3 families gathering and the home was perfect with each family having their privacy when needed, but all able to comfortably gather together in the beautiful Great Room, outside on the veranda, or by the luxurious and spotless pool The pictures on the website are beautiful but the reality is even better. All was better than described and we would gladly meet back here in the future. The owner is on the grounds nearly daily, quietly tending to her gardens and watering and is easily approached for questions or advice on Local excursions. The house is conveniently situated very near Luca and Pisa, and to a longer extent, San Gimignano. Many other excursions are easily reached, including the seaside. Families should be aware that the pool is 1.5m deep (about 5 feet) across the entire width, so bring the appropriate flotation apparel. There was some issue with the WiFi given the country location so having a cellular plan is recommended. Not a big deal. As noted, owner is Very responsive. All in all a great property, wonderful host, and nice location.

We had the most wonderful stay at Villa del Nonno with our family. The place is absolutely beautiful – peaceful, charming, and incredibly well maintained. The garden is stunning and so relaxing, perfect for enjoying a slow Tuscan morning or an evening aperitivo. The villa has everything you could possibly need – it’s cozy, stylish, and thoughtfully equipped. Every little detail has been taken care of, and it really feels like a home away from home. What made the experience even more special was our host, Sara – such a sweet and welcoming person. Her warmth and kindness made us feel truly cared for from the moment we arrived. You can feel how much love she’s put into this place. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you for making our family holiday so memorable!

I stayed here with my family, who travelled all the way from Barbados for my 30th birthday last year, and it was honestly the most incredible stay. Sara was absolutely amazing, and the villa is breathtakingly beautiful. I would highly recommend it. My family and I can’t wait to come back.

This is a quite lovely place. Beautifully decorated with everything you need. The owner Sara is very nice and she is always reliable. The pool is huge and the shaded area with really comfortable sofa and armchairs is perfect for whiling away the afternoons. I am very fussy but I honestly couldn't fault it.
