Aix on foot...20 minutes from Cours Mirabeau, in the romantic setting of a Bastide formerly "Villa Tedeschi", ceilings over 3.20m, insulated stone fortress walls, stone floors and/ or terracotta. two warm living rooms of 40m2 each, one decorated with a large fireplace, the other orangery opening onto the 1780m2 wooded park through large ironwork windows with a view of the Pinchinats hill, a natural area...The city has the countryside..A southern exposure, bathed in the morning light of the rising sun and in the evening the setting sun...Under two century-old plane trees where the aperitif is a Provencal ritual...After some exercise in the gym all nearby, a moment of relaxation in the sauna before diving into the salt pool...An entrance hall enclosed by a solid wood door from the Louis XIV or XV period with its imposing lock...4 bedrooms on the 1st floor with their adjoining bathrooms, comfortable and spacious beds (1x180x200, 2x160x200, 1x140x200), these rooms access a large covered terrace of more than 40m2 equipped with comfortable garden furniture and a very large exotic sofa from which you can admire the effects of the setting sun on the pines of the hill...1 very large Master bedroom on the 2nd floor with 1 very large 200x200 bed, and new hotel quality mattresses everywhere, with bathroom and a large bathroom equipped with a Balneotherapy bathtub...All the windows are equipped with thick shutters and curtains ensuring long lie-ins...the large kitchen is equipped with a gas piano, a pyrolysis oven , a dishwasher, a fridge/freezer, a microwave oven and all the utensils...A laundry room outside the kitchen with a large freezer, a washing machine and a dryer....La Bastide is secured, inside the Clos Pinchinat residence, by an automatic gate on the street and by the Bastide gate...6 private parking spaces are possible... A bus stop (23/25/100/120/150/260) 50 meters away serves the city, the bus station with connection to the Marseille shuttles, Aix TGV station, Marseille/Provence Airport... access to the motorways (A51 towards the mountain, A52 towards Cassis and A8 towards Lyon and Nice) less than 1km from the Bastide...All that remains is for us to wish you the best of your stays

This is a stunning 17th century chateau within an easy walk to the center of Aix. It has plenty of room and a beautiful pool. There are some things to be aware of, though. The host will want to meet you and share many, many details of the home, which can be helpful but is not the usual VRBO approach. Be sure to tell him IN ADVANCE exactly how you want the beds set up (couples vs singles) as this disrupted our visit for some of our party of 10. If it's hot (we were there during a heat wave), make sure he has the A/C running before you get there as it proved finicky at first but perfect thereafter. Be aware that the bathrooms, while plentiful, are sometimes split toilet from sink/shower. Finally, it is surrounded by condos and the people there don't like late noise, so keep it down. We found out the hard way. Overall, we really enjoyed it, but knowing these things in advance would have helped.

We had nine adults with one senior citizen. The walk to town was every bit of 20 minutes. But what a lovely town it was. This home was built in the 17th century. Soexpect some unexpected things.The house itself had four bedrooms on the second floor and a fifth with a spare room on the third floor. Many rooms had toilets, separate from shower and sink. All the bedrooms were comfortable. Bedding and mattresses were great. The kitchen was serviceable. The pool was unheated, but the yard was so pleasant to sit in we hardly noticed. There was plenty of seating inside but much of it is well seasoned. The neighborhood was quiet. The neighborhood was safe and secure.The host and hostess were amazing. Very easy to communicate and quick to respond.
