Coney Street, York's premier shopping street was home to some colourful characters down the ages. In 1150, the main street in York, was called Cuningstrete, the King's Street. It ran from Ousegate right to Museum Gardens. By the 18th century it was the site of the seat of government in the city, with the Guildhall and the Mansion House in pride of place. But it was in the 19th century that it became a shopping centre par excellence, with high class fashion establishments, costumiers, furriers, milliners, linen drapers, pianoforte warehouse, bookshops and jewellers, as well as the home of York's first department store, Leak and Thorp which opened in 1869.
Tobacconist & Cigar Importer
Named after one of previous retail occupants, The Tobacconist and Cigar Importer has been finished using strong fabrics and furniture with statement chandeliers and furniture, all handpicked to add drama and excitement to this fabulous one-bedroom apartment. The bedroom, with its stunning bespoke headboard adds drama to this striking apartment. With a large en suite bathroom comprising of a double shower and freestanding bath this spacious, elegant room adds further to the five star experience of the apartment.
There is also a kitchen area in the apartment - however with everything so close to you, you may only want it for making your morning coffee!
Last but by no means least you have a luxurious sitting area within which you can sink into a sumptuous sofa, to watch TV or, just to recharge ready for your next adventure out and about in the beautiful, historic City of York.

We had a wonderful stay at this property. The apartment itself is beautiful and very comfortable, and the location on Coney Street couldn’t be better – everything you’d want to see and do is just steps away.
There are just a few small touches that would take the experience from great to excellent: providing more than two toilet rolls for longer stays, addressing an occasional smell from the shower drain, adding a box of tissues (we had to use toilet roll instead), and including a few extra glassware options like champagne flutes and tall glasses.
Overall, though, it’s a fantastic place to stay and we will happily return.

Ok this was a lovely place to stay in the centre of York, not too far from some amazing eateries and bars. Apartment was clean enough and very comfortable. I do have two gripes though.. so the aircon is on constantly, with nothing in the apartment guide or an obvious way to disable so woke up with sore throats. The second was the smell of the drainage coming back after a bath of shower, guessing this was due to lack of usage while unoccupied.

This property is in an excellent location and reflects the photos (which are very appealing). The lovely bath and double shower are a particularly nice feature and everything is in great condition. The stays York team were available by phone for any questions and were very friendly. Great to relax in if you have been out all day (as opposed to hotel rooms which can feel cramped) and enough kitchen features to eat in simply if you have stuffed yourself amongst the lovely independent eateries in York.

An absolutely stunning apartment located in the centre of the city, 5 minute walk to both the Jorvik centre and York minster, and many shops and restaurants are very close by, we parked in the Q-park shambles car park which is a secure car park 10 minutes walk from the apartment.
We had a brilliant time and York stays were very helpful, would highly recommend.
