Apartment/ flat - Follonica

A really nice apartment with an extraordinary terrace. Fantastic view over the Follonica bay and the island of Elba in the horizon. 1-2 min walk to the beach. Small groceries around the corner.If you have a car Coop is the best supermarket, 4-5 min away If staying in Follonica this is the place to rent

Upon arrival the whole apartment was presented to us very kindly and detailed by Mrs. Nardi and her husband. Fortunately the husband of Mrs. Nardi could speak English quite well, which made it easy for us to start our vacation (this is NOT a matter of course in Italy!). The kitchen is newly renovated, well equipped and fully functional, only a toaster was missing. The two bedrooms have big, comfortable beds and air condition (which we did not test) and the living room has a small couch, a couple of chairs and a low glass and a higher wooden table that can be popped-up. The highlight of the whole flat definitely is the big terrace with a beautiful view over the pines and Tyrrhenian sea to the island of Elba! We've spent as much time as we could on this terrace, it is really fantastic!!! The terrace is also equipped with some wooden, very comfortable and pretty garden furniture as well as a blind above a large table where we always took our food. By just 2-3 minutes walk one can get through the nice little pine forest to a beautiful, huge, shallow, sandy beach that is free of charge, but you could also rent deck-chairs with umbrella such as everywhere in Italy if you wanted. Absolutely splendid and perfect for families with little children! Little drawbacks of the apartment were that quite a few times the fuses jumped out, especially during the long week-end from May 30 till June 2 where the beach and the streets were packed with Italians (very few parking places) just like it would probably be in August. There was also a day when we didn't have water from the lines for a couple of hours, which can be quite annoying as you may imagine... Also, the plastic furniture on the terrace to sit around the table as well as the deck-chairs are quite old, dirty and rusty and should be replaced the sooner the better. The same holds true for the grill. Finally, the apartment is solely equipped with Italian television and no Wifi. Taken together we've spent a very lovely time in this apartment and the pros are certainly much more important than the cons, however, there ARE negatives, that's why receiving the fifth star from my side would still be a matter of improvement.
