No heating in the apartment - sketchy host

The apartment must be nice in summertime. Seemed to be well equiped, with a good size to host a family of four. Cannot comment much more on the positive aspects because we left after our first night - with my review I'm just hoping to give some insight so nobody else has to go through the same thing.

In my almost 15 years using booking.com this is the first time I post a review with such a low score. It is the first time I really have a very bad experience and I wanted to share it with other travelers in hopes of preventing this kind of practice from hosts just looking to get easy money. We visited in spring and weather outside was chilly. There was no heating in the apartment and we were at 14°C during the night. The advertised air con (with a heating function, we checked the manual online) was present but the remote was not in the house. When we asked the host about it she ignored the question several times and kept saying that the building heating was cut due to the gas restrictions in Italy. Finally she told us that the air con is for summer and that was it. She suggested to turn on the gas for a few hours during the night so that neighbors wouldn't notice (which is apparently an illegal practice). Clearly at 14°C a few hours were not going to be enough, especially when traveling with a kid under 2 years. When we announced her that we could not stay in those conditions, she became really bitter and rude with us. Check in and check out were done with a different person who could only speak Italian. That was the last we knew of this property. No refund for the other 4 nights given the circumstances, no apology. At 120€ / night, I'd say think twice before you commit to the mandatory policy of booking 5 days in a row.

Exceptional

The apartments are very beautiful and are in an ideal location: near the train station (7 min), the beach (visible from the window), shops, the market and the park right under the windows. We sat on the balcony and drank local wine with pleasure. Thanks to Laura for the compliment - the dry red wine was wonderful. We were told where it is better to buy food in order to cook ourselves. The apartment has a kitchen and everything you need for cooking. There is a free sandy beach nearby and Laura gave us umbrellas and chairs for the beach. From Follonica we traveled through Tuscany and to Florence, which is 2 hours away by train. Thanks for a great vacation!

The only inconvenience, but not a minus, was that the apartments are located on the fifth floor (high ceilings) and there is no elevator. For us, it was fitness. But it might be a problem for some.

Spazi ampi e cura dei dettagli fanno di questo appartamento un’ottima soluzione. Laura è una host accogliente e gentilissima, che con genuina cordialità ci ha invitati per una giornata anche nella sua favolosa residenza a Gavorrano.

Dichiarato il 4* piano senza ascensore… abbiamo pure fatto palestra!

Super miejsce, jeszcze nieodkryte przez masy. Pani Laura niezwykle sympatyczna, bez nachalności. Mały podarunek na dzień dobry i do widzenia dopełnił przyjemnego obrazu pobytu. Mieszkanie przestronne i dobrze wyposażone. Lokalizacja top! Praktycznie centrum. 5 min pieszo morze i promenada. Polecam w 100%
