About this cottage rental

Bryn Melin, once a fisherman’s cottage, nestles in the heart of the picturesque fishing village of Abercastle, just 50 yards from the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and the sand and shingle beach in this stunning inlet. This pretty stone cottage set in the Pembrokeshire National Park  has been renovated and is well-maintained while it can accommodate 3, it is ideal for just a couple looking to escape to the coast. Step into the welcoming open plan living space comfortably furnished with beams and exposed stone walls, the wood burning stove ensures a cosy feel on the chilliest of evenings and makes it perfect for winter breaks. There is a pine dining table and a well-planned and equipped kitchen area. Stairs from the sitting room lead up to 2 bedrooms and a small shower room nestling in the eaves with A frame beams, but watch your head as there is some restricted headroom.Enjoy a morning coffee or an al fresco meal while you sit on the picnic bench to the front of the cottage or just simply relax and watch the world go by while you gaze over the beach and sea, fishermen still frequent this harbour and regularly land their catch.  A highlight though has to be watching the sun slowly set over the sea with a glass of wine in your hand on a summer’s evening.Spend your days on the sand and shingle beach in Abercastle, the rockpools are sure to provide endless entertainment, this sheltered cove is perfect for keen kayakers and paddle boarders and those who enjoy messing around on the water.  For the more adventurous try your hand at the popular coasteering. The bird and wildlife will amaze, while keen walkers should take to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, stunning walks await in both directions with Strumble Head to the north and St Davids to the south. Take advantage of the bus to catch a lift back. There are wonderful hidden coves and pretty beaches to explore, to the north lies Abermawr and Aberbach, while Aberfelin below the village of Trefin, is only 2 miles away. There is a popular pub, The Ship Inn, serving food in this village or head inland to Mathry with its popular Farmers Arms and tea room.Further along the coast is Porthgain with the remains from its industrial past, enjoy a rest and refreshments at The Sloop Inn or The Shed restaurant, serving the best fish and chips, and enjoy visiting its art galleries, while Abereiddy and its blue sand beach and the famous Blue Lagoon should not be missed, while surfers both beginners and professionals will not be disappointed by a visit to Whitesands Beach, or head up Carn Llidi, the stunning views out over the coast are breath-taking.  The tiny City of St Davids with its majestic Cathedral and historic Bishops Palace is only a 15 minute drive away and well worth a visit with its range of shops, pubs, cafes and galleries.Bryn Melin really is the perfect base for any holiday in Pembrokeshire whatever the season.Restricted head room on first floor. Please Note: Cot and highchair are not provided, please call 01437 765765 if you would like to hire them from Coastal Cottages.
