The space
A luxury shepherds hut in the heart of Whitstable. This is a traditionally built hut with all the luxuries of a modern structure, including wifi, kitchenette with toaster, microwave, kettle and fridge, wet room, TV and double bed. It even has underfloor heating for the winter months.

Our hut has been beautifully crafted by a local team who have really made the space work well.
The hut sleeps four people but we would recommend that it is most suited to a couple or two adults with up to two young children.

Supermarkets
Co-op next door to the shepherds hut and many other shops in the town centre.

Local Restaurants
This is a list of the places we enjoy going to but is not an exhaustive list: JoJo’s Slightly out of town but a nice walk along the beach to Tankerton. Serves delicious meze plates. Lots of fish dishes and lots for vegetarians. Advance booking recommended. Harbour Street Tapas Lovely tapas restaurant on the popular Harbour Street Farm and Harper A nice place for brunch and they have a small outside area out the back in the summer. Grain and Hearth This bakery is a relatively new addition to Whitstable and we are VERY pleased to have it here. You have to try one of their famous Cruffins! Pizza places Nomad Pizza and Castellum Pizzeria both offer excellent take away pizza. Nomad also deliver on certain days of the week and Castellum offers dine in. Castellum is more of a traditional Italian pizza, whilst Nomad is probably more of an American style. Both delicious in their different ways. Umbrella Cafe A not for profit, community cafe in the centre of Whitstable. Lovely sunny garden and simple, modestly priced, homemade food. Blueprint Coffee Really good coffee and a small but lovely selection of books. Twelve Taps Great little craft beer and gin bar with a small courtyard at the rear. Amadea A ‘half-croation’ cafe bar, again with a small courtyard at the rear The Seafarmers Dive Craft beer bar on the seafront. Beer can be bought and drunk on the beach. The Neptune The well known ‘Neppie’ is the iconic pub on Whitstable seafront. Great for a beer on the beach on a sunny day. Fish and chips - a few to choose from. We always go to Ossies which is a popular choice with locals and tourists. There’s also VC Jones on Harbour Street which is also very popular and has a retro dining area out the back. Chips here are cooked in beef fat. Gelateria Ice cream shop on the seafront serving delicious, home-made ice cream The Forge Waterside Oyster shack near the harbour. We haven’t had the Oysters but we can vouch for the freshly fried donuts. Samphire Lovely local, bistro style restaurant on the high street. A good selection for vegetarians South Quay Shed A new addition to Whitstable. A large warehouse on the harbour that has been converted and now contains independent retailers, a bar and eateries including Sooshi Sushi and Rad burger. Nice place to sit on a rainy day with views over the harbour. Further afield: Compasses Inn Gastro pub. Bit of a drive (about 30 minutes) but a lovely country pub and excellent food. Will likely need to book in advance. The Fordwich Arms One Michelin starred pub, 20 minutes away. Lovely setting. Would require booking. The Duke William Gastro pub with good food and a climbing frame in the garden to entertain children. 30 minutes drive.

Local Attractions
Walk along the beach Looking towards the sea, if you turn right at the Neptune you’ll head towards the harbour and Tankerton where you’ll be able to eat and drink at many beachside bars, cafes and restaurants. If you turn left at the Neptune you will walk along West Beach which is a nice walk and less busy with tourists in the summer but no cafe’s/bars on the seafront. The Street A shingle strip about half a mile long extending out from Tankerton Beach. Exposed at low tide and well worth looking up the tide times so you can time your visit to walk out to the end The Harbour Quintessentially English harbour with fishing boats and huts selling fresh fish. Huts at the far end of the harbour sell a real mixture of wares including arts, crafts and street food. Restaurants on the harbour offer a nice place to sit and people watch but you definitely pay more for the location. Whitstable Castle and Gardens 5 minutes walk from the harbour, between Tankerton and Whitstable. Serves simple lunches and cream teas in their pretty gardens. Harbour Street A street of independent shops selling books, clothes, gifts and more. Further afield there are many great places for day visits around Kent including Margate, Deal and Broadstairs.

Nothing wrong with the stay, but spent days and days longer 'proving' who I was than spent in Whitstable. Truvi even tried to say I needed a passport to travel about forty miles and needed an identity card to collect the keys (they wouldn't accept my senior bus pass). Key holders also wouldn't release the key until I'd made another payment over and above the two-day rent. I'd already paid the owners and was committed, so I sent more money. A complete con, in my opinion. Wouldn't trust anything to do with Truvi again.

We stayed for two nights in this small but lovely shepherd’s hut. It was kitted out well for 4 guests (but I think it would be very tight for four adults) and it was clean and very comfortable. It has a lovely private outside space and was very quiet. Good place to access the delights of Whitstable.
